As the old saying goes, please take this with a grain of salt. The part where they were talking about the Oedipus Complex, and how "most people would hold that inside" (and treat that like a genuine compliment no less), is starting to confirm my worst fears about this situation. Chris more likely started it all himself, and Bella didn't really "egg him on" out of maliciousness. Either she just okayed all of it, and possibly fetishizes over that kind of stuff too, or she was just genuinely unaware of just how "close" Chris's relationship with Barb really was. Either would certainly explain why they haven't shared anything until much later.

Edit: Also take this with a grain of salt (especially since the posts I'm referencing seem to show signs of a game of telephone, and we're not sure if Grant fully understands what happened), but I'm also hearing news on her thread that either way, Bella was still not entirely innocent in the matter.
