Indeed, and if anything condemns the modern world, its that.

To use an autistic analogy, needing to slopify Tolkien is like seeing an actual, literal angel, and telling it to put on make-up.

If I took over the world tomorrow, my first act of business would be to take away the Middle-earth rights from these corporations. Probably keep them for myself since the Tolkien Estate lost the one guy who also hated the corruption of his father's work.

That's because the industry is run by sociopathic corporate drones with no passion, balls, creativity or understanding of basic human emotion and the technology ceiling of the past is no longer there in the form of hardware limitations that devs have to creatively work around. That's exactly why modern games all look and play the same and suck the world's supply of ass despite having insanely high budgets and large teams.
