I remember realplayer but I don't think I used it. I am pretty sure I used CCCP with Media Player Classic.

You're obviously not a real nigga unless you still use CCCP

PS : Good work Jersh. Vid's was one of the biggest (albeit not that bad) pain points of using the site previously.

Hi Josh. With the new Kiwi Player I'm no longer able to open videos in a new tab. Is this intentional or just a limitation of the player?

Edit: Fuck me. Right clicking the download icon lets you open in new tab. my bad.

@Null may I suggest the ability to control the volume of audio before hitting play because I dont want my ears to be brutally raped because it would be so awesome, it would be so cool
Same. I usually do that every time before hitting play, now I'm losing the first few seconds of video fiddling with it and waiting for controls to fade out.

Also, is there something weird happening with the audio encoding? Every single video I've played in the new player has been louder than usual, even when cranked down to almost nothing.

okay but there's no way you never ran into this, particularly pre 2006

also please try to implement that set and forget volume level setting, it can be a cookie or local storage or whatever is easier.
I honestly found .rm files to be impressive at the time, taking a 30 min video and compressing them down to 35 - 50 megs. When "intros" were the big thing back in the day, we would use .rm as an option if it didn't call for .swf to present on a website.

have you guys never seen a video player on any other site before? like kick or twitch or x? do I have to disable the right click menu to stop getting this question?
You can at least middle-click the video on all the sites you mentioned, and it opens the link in a new tab. Right now, you have to press play, stop the video, and then middle-click the little download icon in the corner to get the same result.
