New Wave / Coldwave / Synthpop / Minimal Wave / Minimal Synth - New Romantic and Post-Punk are fine, too.

Polysics are an incredibly fun new wave/synthpop/electro punk band formed in Japan in 1997. Late nineties might seem a bit late for new wave, and while they take quite a bit of influence from Devo, their sound is totally unique.

One of my favorite music videos here with a giant cardboard mech robot going on a fun-time rampage throughout the city.

Polysics wishes to be the little girl

POLYSICS OR DIE!!!

Can't beat their high energy

Bye-bye!

Philip Jap (Philip Gayle) is an english new wave singer who've released few songs like "Save Us", "Total Erasure" and "Judy in the School for Jiving".

He also released a demo song's music video, which was included in a 1981 vidzine called "Question Mark".

Fad Gadget was the stage name of musician Francis John Tovey. His work is hard to characterize, but it contains elements of new wave, minimal synthpop and early industrial experimental tendencies.

The Human League are a new wave/synthpop group formed in England in 1977.

Their first single, Being Boiled from 1978, has a vastly different sound than what the group would become known for. It sounds like an early industrial track.

Quite funny that a few years later in 1981 they'd release their best known song, which has a much more poppy sound.

Lana Pellay was the name used for the musical output of Alan Pillay. As far as I can tell, he's only released two songs. Weird, but this one kicks ass in the most cheesy, eighties new wave/synthpop way.

Gary Wilson is an experimental musician who started in 1965, but didn't start releasing albums until 1974.

I can't remember where/how I first heard this track from his 1977 album You Think You Really Know Me, but it blows my mind to this day.

The Flying Lizards were a weird English new wave band formed in 1976.

Their best known song from 1979.

Weirdness from 1984. Deborah Evans-Stickland always sounds so bored and robotic and it cracks me up. She speak/sings in a posh English accent.

1988. The whole thing is like a damn fever dream.

The Buggles are an English new wave group formed in 1977.

Best known for their 1979 hit Video Killed The Radio Star, it being the first video shown on MTV.

Spizzenergi are a post punk/new wave band formed in England in 1979.

Best known for their amusing, catchy punk tune about Star Trek's Captain Kirk:

They've done more Star Trek related songs, like Spock's Missing, that starts off as a weird, droning, barebones acoustic song before turning into a punk song, then back to acoustic, back n' forth. More of a novelty than anything really.

Non Star Trek-related song with funky-ass bassline and weird herky-jerky post punk/new wave song structure.

As a bonus I'll put R.E.M.'s cover of Where's Captain Kirk.

Lene Lovich is an American new wave singer active since 1975.

Best known for her 1979 weird, quirky hit single, Lucky Number.
