New World - The newest flavor of the month.

I noticed how samey it was watching some footage of the game. There's a copy pasted farm in what I guess is the starting area even, just mirrored. You can tell this game is insanely rushed, and it's just extremely generic and low effort, which I'm betting occurred after they shifted the focus from colonization to zombie corruption. They just scrambled to get something thrown together and this is what we ended up with.

I don't think they intend for the game to survive very long, just enough to make a profit, though. Their actions don't make it seem like they have faith in it succeeding really. They could have immaculate servers for this game but choose not to, which doesn't bode well for them actually giving a shit.

Now I just wait to watch Ashes of Creation suck dick and then I'll never even have a hint of a thought that an MMO could ever be good again.
You may have to wait a while. What I played in AoC's alpha was actually quite good for what it was. When Intrepid released everyone from their retarded NDA people started showing off videos of the same shit I was doing in the Alpha 1 client. Clearly not finished but everything they needed was there and I had a lot of fun leveling nodes. Obviously quite a lot can happen between now and launch but I actually ended up missing the time I had there. Castle sieges in particular were really good and chaotic fun. I will say that if you don't like PvP you aren't going to like AoC. It really drives the game. And I really don't like the cosmetics and reliance on monetization of cosmetics. That shit will kill my imersion quick if they don't have the ability to turn them off clientside.

I basically play 75% PVP if a game has good PVP, but it's been so long since I was really into PVP of any kind in an MMO. I've watched some videos on AoC and have some hope, but I know it's still probably years out. I hate cash shop armors, though. GW2 was always somewhat gaudy, but now everyone's running around with giant pixie dust wings or edgelord wings and it makes the game look just terrible.

I've been reading the Steam forums ever since launch because they're hilarious right now. People literally love corporations now, and they're defending every single action Amazon has done at this point, making excuses for their poor server management, making excuses for their bans for minor infractions, and flat out thanking Amazon without a hint of irony for the game. It's a nearly 2 trillion dollar company that has people living in shacks outside of their warehouse, and yet people are defending them simply because they released a FOTM to distract them from the hellscape the planet is becoming, BECAUSE of companies like Amazon.

Talk about a blackpill. The release has been hilarious, but at the same time very disheartening. Funnily enough, tons of the threads discussing how banning everyone is actually a good thing keep devolving into vax vs anti-vax conversations, and you can guess who is on what side.
I’m reading them and apparently Amazon has an auto banning feature that after a massive amount of reporting will ban a player for a day regardless of reason. Sure Amazon doesn’t openly state this, but considering the reasons why people were banned it adds up pretty well. That’s going to lead to some swell results I’m sure.

that's pretty common these days, the idea being "well if someone gets X reports in Y minutes there must be a reason for it", then the temp ban hits and a) no more reports, meaning more people are happy (yeah right) and b) you saved on support personnel having to deal with all those reports too so you don't have to hire as many. win/win.

i just hope it draws enough autismo for people to gather the packets for reversal and make a private server, all in all it's based on lumberyard and modding it wouldn't be that much difficult.

"This isn't a M rated game."

yeah it's Teen rating not for fucking babies to be playing (before someone makes a pedo joke).
i don't think even club penguin had such retarded fanbase and club penguin banned you for double entenders...
also i'm totally getting "Saints Row Twitter manager" vibes from that fucking faggot, watch him for more lulz.
and talking about ratings:

funny thing is that thanks to discord, MMO chatting culture is somewhat dead, you can't talk or socialize with anyone in a game or else people will tell you to shut up, i think i remember seeing something equivalent on the House Hexagon nigger's videos, here.
why the fuck even play MMO's then if you don't want to socialize? just kill yourself or go to singleplayer games if you have such mentality.

Tons of people using it to ban other faction members for PVP reasons, from what I hear. You could do the same thing in Wildstar during the early days. How do people never learn from other game releases?

It's so creepy, people's attitudes these days, but to be fair, maybe people are excited by the idea of some new blood entering the AAA video game scene? It's been the same handful of publishers for years now.
Going to double post, and I don't even care.

People are excited that someone new is coming about, but the sheer defense of Amazon is pretty blatant on this one. Hell, I want good MMOs more than anything, I'm willing to accept C tier shit if I'm not going to get banned for saying damn or pissing off the wrong person with enough people to report me a few times. I get the hype, I do, but defending Amazon for their poor launch is just insane. 2 trillion dollar company, that's absurd.

I get you playing double's advocate here though, good games are a diamond dozen.

From the reviews I watched: Queue World sounds like the bastard child of ESO and GW2, it barely has any end content and theorycrappers have already ruined the game for a lot of people. Wouldn't be surprised if the game dies in a month.

once the marketing money runs and out streamers drop it people will follow them whoever they get paid to play next, anyone else will finish the game and then play something else. I simply don't see it as the game people want to no-life in (or can to begin with).

I think people are also partially hyped because they think that any game by Amazon is going to be "too big to fail". Any Valve fanboy will tell you that even companies that print infinite money will not waste time and resources on a failing game. RIP Artifact. And Crubile, that happened as well.

From what I have seen, it lacks the lore and charme/fantastical elements that ESO and GW2 have, unfortunately. But even if the game wanted to be low-fantasy and gritty, I think that many of the grittier elements got cut to not harm anyone's feelings. The wiki says the following about the Covenant faction (religious zealot faction):

"The Covenant is a fanatical order that has charged itself with cleansing the land of heretics and defilers so that its true holy nature can flourish and justice can be restored."

I read that some players were dissatisfied to learn that the covenant quests were less "Burn the heretics!" and more "Come on guys, let's show them the light! We are the good guys and we just wanna spread the love." Shame. If I were to play the game, I would go Covenant, Rapier and Pistol and just roleplay as a Warhammer-esque Witch Hunter General. But if any witch hunting/inquisition stuff has been cut, then they are just a bunch of Scientology followers.

@ZMOT I had the displeasure of watching a big german Streamer stream the game and he started to complain about not being able to no-life it, because he would rather play other games than collecting 500 plants for the next 10 hours. When he started talking about politics and gendering he instantly lost 900 viewers and I lost the will to live. Unfortunately he ignored any questions about the game and focused on people asking what to do about the evil anti-vaxxers.

it's also the OMG NEW PRODUCT BY THE GUYS WHO I ORDER SHIT FROM!!11! favor of the month hype. nothing else new or interesting is releasing right now. and even the MMOs that failed so hard they're offline had hype at launch, that's why I doubt it's staying power, especially involving people who only play what's popular at the moment.

>german streamers
why would anyone do that to himself? if there's one population unfit to do it based on inherited traits it's them. I've seen absolute ADHD burger streamers and they were less annoying than that. fremdschämen doesn't work if it's so bad it makes me wanna kill myself to escape it.

even the chicken isn't free from it and she larps as a cute animu grill phoenix.

From what I've seen, it looks like its trying to appeal to Runescape players and people who like PvPing in MMOs. The combat seems kind of dull and the lack of endgame makes me think the population will dip hard once the hype dies. The viewership on Twitch is also pretty inflated from the mix of top streamers all playing it and Twitch giving in-game items from watching a set amount of hours. The few large PvP battles I've seen looked interesting, but that might be because everyone was low level and the population is healthy. I could see it becoming a "play this Faction or go PvE only" for a lot of servers if the population takes a huge dip like what happens in most MMOs with open world PvP.

The samey-ness of the game reminds me of how ATLAS was on launch, minus the whole absolute broken mess-fest that ATLAS was on launch. (Did the devs ever fix that game?) Except in New World, the said lack of brokenness removes the humor factor.

Obligatory Faggot! for doubleposting.
Still, the thing about this is that MMO market is so fucking dry, ESPECIALLY THE WESTERN market that people attached it on drought rather than seeing if it's good or not.
MMO's are infested with chinkshit or koreancrap coomerbait, insanely low RNG/GRIND cancer-ridden fests that anything that is made by any western developer AND doesn't look like total dogshit will draw in the people.
It's just like the Space Sim folk, they have nothing to play besides teh same games over and over until something that looks and sounds different from the myriad of trash that is offered to them will make them attach themselves to it and hold dear because it's different.
and people tell me games are fucking art, nigger fuck off with that shit, plenty of artsy games out there that are downright ignored by people because it looks like shit and plays like the same shit that already exists 🎩 .

it has that albion online crap of "player-driven economy", meaning only a couple of autistic spergs will dominate shit in the near future, at least EVE has more than two autistic sperglords to hold domain over the game.
it's going to die real quick, OpenPvP games don't last much since people don't want to waste time with autists. else pretty much every korean game would be a hit in the west since they have that aplenty.
one good point i can give is that the game pretty much loads you with resources even though if you die you'll take a massive resource hit, the game wants you wasting shit because it's plentiful around the new world, pun intended.

ngl, i was semi-hyped. the setting and factions intrigued me. plus this is the newest mmo in like a decade, and it has the backing of amazon meaning the lack of cash flow that fucked other mmos wont be there. didnt bother with the open beta, but from whats been going around it sucks. also i forgot this isn't 20 years ago when they wouldn't tone down the shit this was clearly going to do. replace goblins with redskins, and shit like that. ubisoft was going to release a mobile game about the same period a decade ago but apparently it never happened for similar reasons. even though it is a fantastic idea the "colonizer" bullshit rubs people the wrong way. thats one of the good things about weeb shit, while there is certain censorship rules, things are rather solid. coombait now is the same as coom bait 20 years ago for the most part. you aren't going to see the japs go "actually fantasy settings are anti-semetic so lets abandon the whole concept"

this was amazon game studios last shot at a legit vidya too. now it looks like we'll see Besos Mobile Adventure in the near future instead.

Game isn't great. I enjoy the gathering because I'm a nerd and actually seeing trees fall when you cut them down is neat, and the idea of contributing to a faction through gathering/crafting is cool. Combat is a big meh, ranged feels incredibly weak and the melee combat is impactful but sluggish, hitting stuff is cool but god help you if they get behind you because turning around is a pain. It generally looks great though I've only been in two zones to be fair.

I'm glad I'm only playing it very casually (if it had a sub I would never have bothered) as the faction imbalances are likely to kill the game populations fast once people start seeing the entire map painted one color, or the faction they chose gangbanged by the other two when they're down to their last town.

I played the beta for this and it felt generic as every other MMO that's come out in the past 15 years except for ArcheAge which was good fun. If it wasn't for being ran by Amazon, I'd give this game maybe a year before it dies.

I really liked the setting's themes and various ideas but hearing all the draconian bans, Amazon simping, and technical issues is genuinely disappointing. Even if I didn't end up playing it having another functional competitor in the MMO market is good.

So much for that idea.
