I think he got drama queen of the year once. He threatened to move to Canada in 2004 cuz Bush, and the forum was like “lol do it”I'm now having memories about how cancerous the forums were. Does anyone remember Cellardoor6- the spergy American who hates everything non American?
If there's one thing I'll miss about Newgrounds, it has to be the numerous groups who tried fucking with the site and its userbase. The Barney Bunch was brilliant when they flooded the flash portal with spam, donning vulgar click-bait titles pertaining to Drew Pickles. Shit was actually funny compared to the milquetoast Barney Bunch videos on YouTube. I managed to save a few of their .SWF's from a random day in 2005, but they're on a laptop that's been MIA for a decade now.
Other groups like the SS and DD were pretty funny too. They actually managed to fuck with the site more than the BB, but they lack the personality. Still though, nabbing Weekly Awards through mass-upvoting (via VPN or Tor) and hijacking the BBS mod accounts are a big feat.
I never heard of the 4chan Fandango virus, but I can only assume it has some connection to the virus that was being developed in 2006.Yeah, I used to love Star Syndicate and Piconjo animations. Clock Day also had a few gems.
Do you remember that 4Chan Fandango virus that the Star Syndicate released?
Ew isn't Newgrounds something you just grow out of? Legit was in Middle School when I stopped having anything to do with that website.Well, he is related to Newgrounds. That kind of attitude was pretty much the norm there.
True. While it works for him. The early 2000s kind of edgyness got replaced with incredible irony as the cool kid thing to do.Yeah, like a decade ago when it was still relevant. Whereas other creators moved on to bigger pools, Shad got stuck in a horrific time capsule.
Same here. I do respect what the place stands for and I am a bit amazed it still exists, of course.Ew isn't Newgrounds something you just grow out of? Legit was in Middle School when I stopped having anything to do with that website.
Same here and to be honest i treats animators way better than youtube.Same here. I do respect what the place stands for and I am a bit amazed it still exists, of course.
It sure does! While we are having some sort of mini Renaissance with the genre of storyboard animation there. It will never come close to the older stuff. That just takes too much work and effort while it gets bad returns thanks to the algorithm.Same here and to be honest i treats animators way better than youtube.
I think part of that is because people like Oney and Egoraptor influenced a lot of the comedy driven animations on the website. It sure does! My biggest criticism of NG would be that it really had a monotone, especially with it's big comedy animators. The crude unappealing art style and general gross humor, is not my cup of tea. Ren and Stimpy: video game references basically. :powerlevel:
That must be true. There are usually a few leading people in any community that the other start out by mimicking, at least until they find their own voice/style.I think part of that is because people like Oney and Egoraptor influenced a lot of the comedy driven animations on the website.
It's a place ran by its community instead of a place that is slave to those who can exploit the algorithm like Youtube. Getting popular on Youtube is about trend hopping more than actually being talented. That must be true. There are usually a few leading people in any community that the other start out by mimicking, at least until they find their own voice/style.
I think in many ways Newgrounds is a good model on how to run an user generated page. It feels like a place, a community. Everything is full of personality there. It's a good contrast with the cold inhumane minimalism of facebook and google.
Surprised nobody has mentioned SleepyCabin.
You forgot the funniest thing of all; that the tumblr rejects flooded so hard that it's servers kept crashing because Tom Fulp is a moron.Or that this site is now promoting itself as a home for Tumblr rejects.
Is that supposed to make me laugh or make me sadOr that this site is now promoting itself as a home for Tumblr rejects.
