Alright, so ive been lurking here for a bit, and have wanted to share my encounter with one 'Nice Guy'.
So I knew this guy, L, for about 2 years prior to when this started in Sophomore year of HS. There was this one asian girl, N, that he clearly had the hots for, so he started to chat her up n whatnot. Thing is L is socially awkward as hell, and his 'conversations' with her were nearly entirely one sided. He also proceeds to follow her in the hallways in the minuted between classes, to the point of following her to the opposite side of the building to his class for that period. He would also do things such as walking by the class she was in (typically the art room) several times during the period. So this low level stalking persists into Junior year, where it gets worse. The escalation started at the end of Sophomore year, the HS has a bus system where students living outside a one mile radius gets to take the school bus to one of two stops. N took one of these buses home, while L lives a few minutes walking distance from the HS. So, he decides to sneak onto the bus, with the intent to follow N home. She catches wind of this, takes an early stop, and calls her parents to pick her up. So then over the summer he sends her texts, the content of was pretty mundane one sided chatter. So Junior year starts, and L's behaviour becomes concerning. I only learned of this afterwards, and wouldve probably raised alarm if I knew of this then. L started to touch N, even though she told him to cut it out. It started by touching her shoulder blade, then hair, then bra strap, then finally her inner thigh before he finally stopped after one of her friends saw this n threatened him. N is extremely passive, so she never took any significant action towards this, thusly this got as far as it did. Its mostly due to her passive nature that L was able to take it as far as he did. Another significant thing of his was the gifts. He would give her these elaborate gifts for: her birthday, christmas, and valentines day. It got to where she, a near perfect attendance student, skipped school on Valentines day in Junior yr to avoid him. Anyway, right before winter break, he confessed to her. I dont know exactly how she put him down, but I can make a safe wager it was as passive as possible. So over the break hes all depressed and texting us how he was friendzoned and etc. So when break ends he seems to have gotten over it. Nope. Goes back to low level stalking and one way conversations. He also begins to say on social media how shes the reason he hasnt committed suicide, she is the light, etc. This understandably makes her VERY uncomfortable, and she then felt like she couldnt tell him off for being a creep, as she was worried he would kill himself. So after two months of this, N asks the friendgroup for help, which was when I learned abt 85% of what had been going on. So we recommend she gets a restraining order, however, she insists on getting it at the end of Senior year. After about another month of low level stalking, he gets told off really hard by someone outside of the friendgroup, essentially listing all the reasons why he was a creep, and he finally stops, but ofcourse not without moaning about how he was led on by her, he thought she was playing hard to get, etc.
Sorry if the story was a bit loosely organized, I wrote as I remembered details. I can probably edit this later after remembering some examples or other behaviours of his. I may also ask a friend if she remembers anything.
EDIT: I remember that one day he was literally bowing down to her as she waited for the bus to arrive, dunno how it ended as i walked away due to the second hand cringe
