I just recently encountered one of these "nice guys" and now I believe that it's a term which is interchangeable with "sociopath". So I met this guy who lives near me, he added me on facebook, and we started texting. He started out so "nice", telling me a sob story about how his ex-fiance broke his heart and trying to flatter me. I was not interested in him and made it VERY clear without being rude; he did not take this well. After I stopped responding to his endless texts, he said that I'm going to be single for the rest of my life if I didn't date him, and that I'm lucky that he's even interested in me because he has seven other girls who he "DOESN'T EVEN GIVE THE TIME OF DAY". I blocked him in response, and thought that was that, but no. He found my email address and started to email me very creepy messages, going so far as to find my ex and talk to them about me.

This thread is hilarious, but remember that these guys are vindictive saboteurs when they feel wronged.

Found the twitter of a nice guy, it's sobering to thing that this is real and not a troll trying to creep women out.

You may have noticed that these tweets are from the last few months, but he's been on Twitter since mid-2011. I'm betting there's more gold for anyone inclined to dig further.

Yeah, they're vindictive saboteurs, but I have seen women with Cluster B mental disorders that do the same things, or even worse (we have a few documented rather thoroughly in the Lolcow Cults). 'Nice Guys' are undesirables because they think their overtures of friendliness are an easy in for sexual access to a woman. When their delusions are shattered, they lash out at the woman because they can't afford to have the ego check and take the rejection nicely. Further, they always try to pick women that are outside their audience range or that do not have interests in common with them. You might want to look at it from the perspective of Nice Guys being actually snivelling submissive Judases who will not hesitate to stab their best male friend on the back if they think they've got a stab at said friend's girlfriend.

That's the kind of person a Nice Guy is. Someone you can't trust.

Are there women like that? Yeah, absolutely. Except sexual access to THEM is easier. And while you might even get the chance to fuck them, they will fuck your entire life back in ways you can't foresee or fathom, if you don't play your cards right. Hint: if you find one of these, step away quietly. Don't be 'nice' when breaking. Just ghost her. She'll turn her attention on someone else soon enough and sad to say, it's the kind of thing that makes the man, if he's strong enough not to be broken by it.

Men are expected to be able to handle rejection, because they will be rejected much more than the average woman. From a biological standpoint, a man could ask 100 women to have sex with him and if only one of those 100 says 'yes', then he's succeeded. In response to the latter end of your post, you've highlighted the most important reason to not jump into bed without knowing someone well: If it is too late, and a gentleman has already made the mistake of getting too close to the fire, then he must make haste and run like a bat out of hell.

Ultimately we live in a society where these types are romanticized as desirable and people with any ounce of empathy are considered weak. Well, except for Nice Guys. They're universally reviled. The series 'You' is essentially about a Nice Guy gone Absolute Psycho who just so manages to get laid instead of becoming an incel berserker. So he stops being a Nice Guy because he gets into the Ted Bundy-status of willingness to kill. It helps the actor portraying 'Joe Goldberg' is considered attractive, of course. But even the tweets he receives make you stop and think about the missing screws in humanity's collective brains.

He's one of the benign nice guys that actually is a good dude but is wrapped up in some serious loneliness and depression. Instead of being a hyper aggressive ultra shit threatening violence against Chad and Stacey its more passive/passive-aggressive lonely posting and pining. He is an odd outlier for a nice guy. Got his priorities pretty straight and just really needs to work on the confidence.

In another thread that was talking tangentially about the soy/nice guy, I think I realized the same thing. I came up with the term "Cultural Quisling" to describe it.

They'll ape whatever mannerisms they have to and say whatever they think needs to be said to curry favor with the "in" group, for personal benefit, and then try to deny ever having liked all those things when the tides of power change, ignorant that everyone darn well SAW him shake the Nazi's hands when they marched in, and aren't going to forget it.

Nice guys have no loyalty to anything but their own desires, and will sell out anyone and anything in a heartbeat if it looks like there's a pussy angle in it for them, and then whine whine whine when called out on it, belatedly realizing they backed the wrong horse.
