For all the flaws in the side quests and the farming minigame, I actually like Replicant more than Automata. The difficulty seems better scaled to me because levels don't matter as much. In Automata, level affects damage so much that playing on hard has either one or two shot deaths or you're dealing one or two shot kills due to lack of level scaling. Here, it does matter for the old DLC, but not in the main quests. The characters in Replicant have more personality too and it's more consistent as a dark fantasy story. Automata has that alien fake-out nonsense and sometimes 2B's and 9S's lines seem to get swapped. For example, 2B should always be the character that knows more than she's letting on, but 9S is the one that explains how the Bunker is supplied. Likewise, since 9S is supposed to be a kid Nier reference, he should consistently be the fish out of water during the early game.
