I have nightmares a lot - so much so that I've become almost desensitised to them. It's only really the ones that involve my past that really get to me nowadays.

I'll powerlevel about the one I remember the most vividly.

This nightmare involved me finding myself in some kind of cold, metal room and upon exiting this room I realised that I was in fact in a slaughterhouse. There were horse corpses hanging from meat hooks (most of which were not fresh) and the air around these bodies felt really thick and uncomfortable. See, nightmares for me are bad not because of what I see, but rather what assaults my senses and dear god the stench in this place was harrowing - it was that kind of sickly-sweet stench that bodies produce as they decay and it was everywhere. I left that room as soon as possible and decided to try and find an exit.

It wasn't long after trying to find my way out that I realised that I wasn't alone. On the odd occasion I'd hear shuffling sounds in the distance, and it wasn't until I found what I assumed to be an exit door that I got to see what was following me. When I turned around I saw what looked like an amalgamation of various horse parts sewn together to create a blob of living flesh. It only had one head thankfully, with blank eyes that just stared at me unblinkingly.

I'm actually reluctant to call it a monster because it really didn't act like a monster, but I opened up the exit door and backed out with my gaze still fixed on the creature. Even in dreams I don't take chances, for all I knew this thing was waiting for me to turn around so it could devour me. When I shut the door I realised that I was back in my house and that's when I woke up.
