Netflix’s “Hype House” Is So Sad​

It’s almost like the show was made with the explicit purpose of convincing teenagers it sucks to be social media famous.

Hype House is certainly an interesting insight into the machinations of content houses and the struggles that come with them, but it is not a very fun or interesting show. By the end, I was begging the Hype House to break up and end our misery — as well as theirs.

I want the spiritual successor to Hype House: "Hate House" hosted by Larry Ridgeway to be a TRS Wignat Content house.

Where everyone leaves the house before 6 am to attend work and then they come home to drink and talk about Niggers.

I am 5 episodes in and the show is miserable, miserable as in the management but this clearly is not Nikita's show. She gets forced in for appeasement but it mostly follows Alex and his spouse and the thirst trap guy. Larri too is central a lot too.

Nikita of course goes "muh trans" but does not realize that people dislike him because he is a cunt. The show is not trash, trash but it's pretty depressing. These people have to make content to pay rent and stay relevant, especially Alex as he is the breadwinner with Patrick.

I think they boosted Nikita's presence because everything else is so miserable and boring. Her role is similar to the stars of reality tv competitions. On Drag Race, RuPaul is the star, but he only really makes appearances. Nikita makes appearances and is inserted into every episode to carry the storyline, whether she's intervening in fights, providing some kind of contextual narration or something else.

I read an article that described it well. It's almost like her parts were meant for another show. The scenes where she's driving around in her fancy car telling her mom about a fight with trisha paytas seems like it was filmed for another show and inserted into this one because it's so god awfully boring.

If if wasn't for her, what else are they going to film? More footage of Alex lamenting about stunts that didn't garner enough attention? That Jordan Catalano wanna be sulking? Or Thomas angsting over why there's no more magic left in a frat house without a college? One of the problems is that almost none of them are likable, and Nikita is beyond unlikable. I tapped out after the 6th episode. I don't know how I made it that long. I don't follow TikTokers at all and had no idea who any of these people were, so it was a little interesting from that perspective. However, miserable teen and 20-25 year old millionaires gets really annoying.

The thirst trap guy is so angry because he's in the closet, right?

Also I love the handsome guy who hates everything & everyone & just wants to play video games alone in his room. It's such a big contrast. He looks like the perfect influencer/instagram model but he hates it & just wants to play his vidya.

still so confused over why nikita was allowed to stay on the show but sienna got booted off, like both suck but if you're gonna go for the activism route why not kick off the 26 year old tranny along with the ED faking stalker?
