Frozen is loosely based on The Snow Queen, a fairy tale originally written by Hans Christian Andersen (who also wrote The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Ducking, and The Emperor's New Clothes). Anderson was Danish, aka white, and all of his stories are presumed to take place in and around Denmark.

So clearly this all means that Elsa was supposed to be black.

I just finally watched Frozen today and I'm not sure I get what the big deal was.
