Decided to create a seperate thread for the Switch 2 which has been recently unveiled by nintendo.

The trailer for the new system. Both the system and the new joycons are shown to be bigger than their original counterparts, connecting to each other with magnets on the side instead of rails, and what might be a larger release button (tumors on joycons before GTA 6).
The trailer also shows two usb-c ports on both the top and the bottom of the system, with a new kickstand design that looks a bit flimsy in my opinion. The trailer ends with gameplay footage of mario kart, I am unsure if this is 8 deluxe or a new entry

Backwards compatibility confirmed for nintendo switch games, although some will not work. Sad day for the 3 Labo and Ringfit users.

Closer look at the system in April of this year, which I think will also include the software running on the switch 2.

Nintendo are also hosting hands on events in April, these are the events planned out for the United states. Other places worldwide will get hands on events around the same time.

2025 Is the year to begin round 2 of "At least it's portable!", no themes and hentai eslop games for the next 7-8 years.
More to be added to OP as time goes on.
More news from big N themselves with the april 2nd direct

Hardware:
7.9 inch 1080p 120hz display, with HDR
256gb storage, can only be expanded with microsd express cards
optical sensors on the joycons, allowing them to be used as a mouse, usable in supported titles (civ 7 is confirmed to use this on the switch 2)
Built in mic for game chat, with noise cancellation
2 usb-c ports, which can be used for accessories, or charging in tabletop mode.
A new dock with 4k 60 support
a new game card, it is red and is said to be

Features:
The switch 2 is also going to get game chat, which is free to use until march 31st 2026, which you will need a nso membership to use after. Players will be able to speak to each other with a built in mic, screenshare their game and use a camera to show their face with an accessory available at launch. The "C" button on the new joycon and pro controller brings up the game chat menu. The camera accessory can also be used for a paid upgrade version of mario party jamboree (fucking stupid paying for upgrades of a game you already own.)

A feature from the ds and 3ds family is also making a return for switch 1 and 2 via a future software update, game sharing will allow multiple systems to play together locally with just one game copy, it also supports online play, with friends in game chat. The first game to support this will be Clubhouse games 51 worldwide classics, with more games planned to support this in the future.

including but not limited to:
Switch 1 games are available to be played on the switch 2, with upgraded versions available at a cost. (I really dont like this idea of this)
Nintendo switch 2 welcome tour, a launch title aimed at introducing people to the the switch 2 , think of it as a paid access version of astros playroom.
Mario Kart world, a new Mario Kart with new features such as 24 player lobbies and free roam, it will be a launch title with more info expected april 17th.
DRAGxDRIVE, a basketball game played in wheelchairs, think of rocket league hoops with just crippled people, also using mouse controls.
Elden Ring tarnished edition
Street fighter 6, amiibo for this game will be released with the game on launch day.
Ea sports titles, such as fc and madden.
Hogwarts legacy, with mouse controls available using the joy con
Tony Hawk's pro skater 3 and 4 remasters
Hitman world of assasination
Yakuza 0 directors cut
Hyrule warriors age of imprisonment, a zelda game set in the past where you play as zelda.
Borderlands 4
sid meier's civ 7
enter the gungeon 2
Kirby air riders
final fantasy 7 remake
cyberpunk 2077 ultimate edition
2k sports games, wwe and nba
gamecube titles available through nso+expansion pack such as windwaker, soulcalibur 2, f-zero gx and more to be added in the future.

the switch 2 is to be sold standalone or bundled with a digital copy of mario kart world. accessories such as a new pro controller, gamecube controller, and a camera are to be available at launch.

I imagine the removable controllers will slip off if there's not a proper locking mechanism. The current Switch had that problem with regular wear and tear.

Of course, the big issue is the insufferable stick drifting.

I feel like graphics have sort of hit a plateau in the past few years, so I wonder if this thing still won't be lagging behind on last gen hardware.

Hopefully there's launch titles worth buying for it, as well. I recall the first Switch just being a dedicated Breath of The Wild machine.

It’s magnets apparently.

I was curious why this was in Prospering Grounds.
This will inevitably turn into people tard raging for/against the steam deck, could be a solid cow thread tbh.

If these retards call it the Switch 2 when it releases, I will laugh at all of the inevitable comparisons to the Wii U when it fails to sell in the numbers they expect. This is Branding 101
Nintendo never uses numbers (yes I know the N64 exists you retards), so this is surprising. That’s the type of shit Sony does, not Nintendo.

My kid would find a way to break that attachment point for the joy cons. Why they didn’t put them on the joy cons themselves (or use literally any other kind of attachment method) is beyond me, but the easiest answer is that if broken, it means you replace the entire console.
