I'm going to guess the digital isn't forever either. When whatever it uses to call back home to the mothership dies the game dies with it.
That's the case with every digital game since Steam and the 7th console generation as a whole, if they don't actively strip your ownership away from you like Sony did with Concord or Valve let Ubisoft do with The Crew 'cuz of that sweet sweet TOS stating you own nothing and will be happy.

Oh, and ROMs, also being digital are subject to bit rot depending on what it's stored on wither by age making them less and less reliable if the file doesn't get corrupted in some other way, or damage to the storage device itself, not counting user error, though it is a little more generous given that the entire game is in it and not in one directory like natively installed PC games where every file is there and is at an equal chance of getting destroyed by the above factors, so sailing the seven seas or dumping your games legitimately also factors in your ability to maintain the quality of your collection, both literally and the actual quality of the files themselves.

We won't get lines like "cocky little freaks" or Pigma taunting Fox with "Daddy screamed real good when he DIED!"
Star Fox 64 had some charmingly awkward lines like "Your carcass is mine!" and "Andross is an insane fool!", but I can't imagine what shit writing Treehouse will come up with.

Star Fox: An original game by Argonaut
SF64: A more Nintendo-fied remake of the OG game on new hardware in 3d that couldn't be done, probably the only necessary remake
In SNES and N64 SF, I can easily forget Fox isn't flying missions solo. Teammates are so useless. All they do is get in the way and/or need rescue now and then all the time.

I personally can't wait to play Star Fox for the first time for the fourth time.

Nintendo knows the world isn't ready for HD Krystal.

I'm sorry if someone made those jokes already

It is quite funny that they are yet again rehashing 64. just beating that dead horse. I don't know what they have so much issue with just making a new rail shooter, it's a glorified amusement part ride, just have targets fly on screen to shoot with cool set pieces.
It is a series that lost the plot practically from the beginning.

I think GC really messed them up. Adventures wasn’t meant to be a Star Fox title and you can sense Nintendo regrets Krystal outside of Sakurai. The rest of the series from there seems to have little direction if not out-right awful character assassination between Assault, and primarily Command.

Zero attempted to bring things back to basics, but Miyamoto shat it up with his usual “innovation” fetish and making the controls awful as sin.

This seems to be the second attempt at trying to reel things in, but I think Nintendo’s current, let’s make characters look like the NES/SNES versions, is going to kill this thing. Koizumi is the one saving grace this has that makes me cautiously optimistic, but that initial hurdle is going to be a gargantuan one.

The bad guys mog the absolute shit out of the heroes.
Still not big on them.

I wish Star Fox kept Wolf’s look from Smash Ultimate. I like the unique purple vest they gave him. Star Fox lives and dies a bit on style, hate how plain and gross everything looks.

The event horizon
Speaking of Event Horizon, that fan game and its quasi-realistic character models now look better somehow compared to what Nintendo just announced today. Plus unlike this 4th rethreading of the original SF, EH isn't afraid to actually continue the story forward after the Lylat Wars and the creator has stated multiple times that he intends to make an original overarching story out of the whole series and then start working on an original campaign of his own. The latest version of SF64's portion of the game has several alt pathways to try in different runs and the current Sauria campaign has new levels based on the original Dinosaur Planet. Plus the first few levels of a revamped SF2 campaign premiered a few days ago.
However now I'm worried the ninjas will send a C&D anytime soon to this +10 years in the making project in order to cull the competition.

Well guys at least the Switch 2 is now going to be homebrewed so that furries can rip the Starfox models into VRchat and jerk of in front of a mirror in a public lobby.

I don't know what's worse: the soulless voice acting or the creepy character models?
The voice acting. Also, I'm guessing the James McCloud segment (the most unique and interesting part) is just gonna be a cutscene... when it could have been way cooler to have it be playable and to experience Pigma's betrayal and James' final stand first hand.

Ahhh, ninja'd. Been following EH for a while now and it absolutely shits on anything Nintendo has done with SF since Assault, and it's still not even finished yet.
Speaking of ninjas, you can bet your sweet ass they'll nuke that fan game from orbit. Surprised they didn't do that leading up to SF64+4's announcement honestly, but if that game doesn't do too hot on release and people instead gravitate to EH...well, I hope they finish most of what they have planned before the bell tolls. The fact that he had a patreon for this for years makes Nintendo not sending EH to oblivion even more shocking.
Then again, not the first Nintendo related thing he's done, look at Hyrule Conquest and Hyrule TW...guy likes Zelda it seems.

Same, it surprised me when I learned that he has a direct line of income to work in the project for years now and even has sold some Krystal inspired plushes before, but it's going to be sad when the day it dies finally comes around. At least the SF64 and Adventures campaigns were finished level wise from the looks of it. And the creator also has a separate project of his own in case he has to back out from EH.

Nice to see that Star Fox is effectively doomed as an franchise.
SF Command: A bad stylus game no one remembers
I actually played this. It's quite easily one of the more boring flight sims that I came across and some of the endings just felt like absolute bullshit, in a way. Even as an tourist, I found absolutely hilarious on how big of an simp Fox was.

Groomerfist is pissed people aren’t eating up the new ugly sonic art style despite fans already loving the super mario galaxy movie star fox design.

The Starfox redesigns look like shit.

Nintendo hasn't ever been known for their high fidelity graphics but they did at least have a cohesive and charming art direction. The whole team looks like fucked up taxidermy now.

They all look just terrible and I have a hard time picking whose the worst. I would say Falco because he's my favorite but look what they did to my boy Slippy. Allah does not look upon this fondly and I believe the only way to get better designs is through jihad.
