My Switch has never left its dock.
You should check the battery on it. I used to keep mine in the dock all the time too and the original battery ended up ballooning within the case, so I had to replace it. Apparently it's a known problem with keeping your Switch docked all the time, even if it's not powered on/running in sleep mode.

Nintendo better be bringing out a bunch of solid launch games or there's no point in buying this thing.
Prime 4 might be a launch title. I can't really think of anything besides Mario Kart from Nintendo itself, but there should be a ton of last gen ports too.

I turn it off completely and unplug it. I never keep anything plugged in that I'm not currently using.

Truly the best looking Nintendo console ever released!

The "play in the public commute to the job/school" is a meme, I legit think nobody actually does that, most people just listen to music or scroll TikTok or Instagram. The Switch is a couch/bed device, if it fits the occation to bring a tablet, then it fits a Switch.

Playing that stuff at work or at school will usually make you be seen as infantile.

Either that or you are asking to get mugged, depending on where you live. Playing that shit on public transport outside of Japan is a death sentence.

I keep my Switch on a special casing when Im not using it. A full battery can last quite a while turned off so if I need it to play on the TV, I just pop it on the dock or if I need it on the go, I just turn it on (or give it a quick charge if I need some percentage)

I'm done with Nintendo and I'm still disappointed. Every new console Nintendo has had something that raises eyebrows, a new controller, a new console design, or some mind-blowing games that weren't on the last one.

Even for the PS4 they had a distinct case that wasn't like the PS3.

The big question is what's the point of detachable joycons? There were a few games that you could have two players use tiny gimpy controllers or using them like Wii remotes but those didn't really last past the first year apart from niche games. The other idea would've used to swap out alternate controllers and features but they didn't do that, either.

For all the Wii U comparisons, Nintendo has always sold games as advertisements for consoles, and their weaker consoles often have weaker first-party games. I still think that one of the reasons why the GameCube sold worse than the N64 was fundamentally weaker games than its counterpart. Sure, there was Metroid Prime and a definitively good sequel to SSB, but Star Fox Adventures, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, and Super Mario Sunshine were worse in many ways than their N64 counterparts.

The Wii U in particular had a tough time because they had no Zelda game to call their own, the only Mario game was Super Mario 3D World (which came a year late and was a step back from Super Mario Galaxy), and no real original, memorable titles. Splatoon was probably one of the few bright spots but it still came a little too late to make a big difference.

The Wii U managed to somehow have less survivability in the long run than an Atari 5200. If a controller breaks for the 5200 (aka nearly all of them by now) you can just get a third party one and go back to using it, meanwhile with the Wii U since they made it so the main system menu UI relies on the tablet thing if it breaks either you have to pay out the ass to get another tablet for the correct console region and go through a bunch of diagnostic madness to get it to connect like it's an organ transplant or you get to look at your paperweight that youtubers have declared quirky and underrated somehow.

>50 bucks per game in early 90s money

No wonder my parents didn't buy me many games
Yeah but in the 1990s even the relatively unskilled adult could have a decent job, fast food was literally for teenagers.

Before anyone tries to gaslight you on 1990s game prices look at grocery ads of the same era.

The GameCube had rushed titles aimed at boosting sales. Super Mario Sunshine had a whole hub world turned into a standard level, and story elements that would've added depth to the story were cut thanks to that. Wind Waker lost two major temples, and there's a theory that Link's sister was meant to be a sage a plot thread that was abandoned mid game when she became irrelevant all of sudden. Even Melee was rushed to meet a deadline, though it turned out great. Animal Crossing was an enhanced N64 port but still was well received. Metroid Prime had to be tard wrangled to completion and was acclaimed in the end, albeit Japan didn't had any interest on it.

That generation was messy for Nintendo. Even the silver GameCube SKU and price cuts couldn't turn things around. The Wii U era almost mirrored this: both systems had a cross gen Zelda, remastered Zelda ports, all Pikmin titles launched on them, divisive Star Fox games (and a spin off game for each), and exclusive third party zombie games tailored to them that were released on competing platforms on the same generation (RE4 for GameCube, ZombiU for Wii U). Both also had third-party support dry up fast and featured Nintendo published dark-edgy shooters that were forgotten immediately (Geist and Devil's Third).

Nintendo really struggled to keep these systems afloat. The only silver lining was that the Wii U wasn't as much of a financial burden thanks to the Wii's success, and that could be the reason as to why the console never saw an official price cut.

If the rumored specs are correct it is going to be a nice upgrade.

Is anyone happy with this? I actually enjoyed my 3DS and unpopularly, my Wii U but the Switch never hit it for me. It doesn’t feel quirky and charismatic like any other Nintendo console did. The first party Nintendo games on the Switch were either Wii U ports or shitty spin-offs. It’s sad to see them stop innovating and make the same fucking thing again.

And of course they’re probably gonna get Nvidia to make another lemon ARM SoC for them.

Wonder with the hardware updates what kinda games nintendo will be able to make. Rumor has it there will be a 3D mario game out this Holiday for it. I can see them launching prime 4 with it too honestly. Hopefully launch lineup is good. Hope we get a new DKC game from Retro as well.
