Last time I went inside one, they had tshirts and toys by the side while selling Pokemon cards and accessories.

No one seriously thought it would be the Wii U.
Dude, there were people unironically arguing in this very thread that it "wasn't unrealistic" for the switch 2 to do less than a million sales globally.

Personally, unless there's something absolutely massive and unforeseen in the switch 2's future, I'm predicting it reaches 100 million, loses its steam, and then coasts to ~115 million after a few more years.

Are these people who said it would sell a million in the room with us now?

The biggest obstacle to the Switch 2's success is the Switch 1. It looks like we'll be in a kinda weird dual-generation up until late 2026 where a bunch of big games also come out on Switch 1 and this is something that will absolutely suppress sales.

Nintendo aren’t Sony.

Metroid Prime 4 and Pokemon Legends Z-A are coming out on both because they were supposed to be Switch 1 exclusives but got delayed.

Pretty much everything from 2026 onwards will be Switch 2 exclusive.

Reminder that just because other people will waste their shekels during the worst economy in recent memory - that doesn't mean that you have to. Instead of giving in to FOMO, perhaps think about your own situation, what you actually need, and where the Banana Republic will be in another year. I'm putting hundreds towards Silver, not derivative bing bing wahoos. And if the markets continue to go as they have been (all evidence points towards continued global depression), then perhaps everyone should be putting their shekels into appreciating assets instead of a 500+ dollar drain (with yearly subscription costs) that depreciates the second you buy it. I salute the emulators.

While it has slowed rather considerably, there are still ps4 versions of games being released. I just don't see switch 1 games being released in December of twenty fucking twenty-nine. I also think that while owning a ps4 made a ps5 borderline obsolete for its first 3 years (ps4 games would often run at a higher framerate than their ps5 versions due to the ps5 going all in on resolution over all other aspects), having a sizeable switch collection/backlog just makes a switch 2 a better deal due to the substantial increase in power and the number of especially later release switch games that started to struggle with the age of the hardware. We've seen a grand total of 2 crossgen games, both release this year, one of which was announced in 2017 and saw not just delays, but a complete reboot of development. If crossgen was THE strategy going forward, there definitely would have been a switch version of mario kart world.

Nintendo actually have precedent with this specific scenario as well so I am inclined to agree with you.

In case you thought game key cards were a full replacement for boxed download codes, don’t worry: EA has outjewed themselves once again by making Split Fiction’s “physical” release a boxed download code. “Where did they announce that”, you ask? Why, in the French-only disclaimer in the bottom-left corner of the US boxart, of course!

So if you want to use up 73 GB of your total 256 GB on this thing, have at it.

Yeah people need to realise that unlike Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo actually believe in hard lines between generations.

In the last 20 years, I think you can count on one hand the number of cross-gen games they have had. Twilight Princess was on Gamecube/Wii, Breath of the Wild was on Wii U/Switch, and we have two cross-gen games confirmed for the first 6 months of Switch 2 (both of which were announced as Switch 1 exclusives).

Mario Kart is Nintendo’s best-selling franchise. If Mario Kart is exclusive then pretty much EVERYTHING will be exclusive.

Is that game any good?

It is EA so of course they did, after all it is cheaper to print a code on paper than including a costly 100mb plastic memory card with a download installer on it.

Its a woke shitty lesbian pro feminists game praised by urinalists. If you are not a brain fried woketard, then avoid at all costs.

I love how we have advanced with our technology:

With my Switch I can play 10 games back to back - no issue.

With my Switch 2 I can maybe play 3 games back to back before I have to wipe the storage.

Don't forget that 256 GB internal storage means 5-10% is reserved for the OS.

And those gosh darn 256 GB flash cards are so expensive to produce nowadays!

Oh wait they cost like $0.50 on AliBaba...

'Member when games came on like 5-6 floppy discs and cost the same money (inflation adjusted) as today?

Casuals are the ones saying "Ooooh, new and shiny, gotta have it!" I could literally just play my backlog for the next 2-3 years and still be satisfied, my wife on the other hand asks every couple days when we're getting a switch 2 for the new mario kart.
You're conflating consoomers and casuals. Casuals are a fickle market, it's partially why Wii U & 3DS struggled to retain them, and is why there's no way S2 is going to match S1 numbers (though it won't struggle as much as those systems).

I don't want to be a dick but maybe you should take a break from predicting things
SSj_Ness (Switch'd)

If you're a Nintendo fan, you should hope that the Switch 2 flops somewhat - Nintendo is at their best when they have to damage control a flop. The Wii U flopping got us BotW and Splatoon.
So you're saying I better buy two Switch 2s?

Sort of true, while they don't typically do cross-gen much they do tend to continue supporting consoles with releases for a while. I think N64 was one of the only exceptions, pretty sure that dropped support before GC even released (at least 1st party support).

3DS in particular received quite a lot of support, even releasing a new version of the system after Switch launched (New 2DS XL, I think?).

It wasn’t just the N64. The Gamecube and Wii U both got basically zero support after their final Zelda games.

Even the Wii, a hugely successful console, got ZERO first-party games after September 2012.

what you dont understand is that silver is a renewable resource which will drop the prices down, the switch 2 is not, it will only appreciate in value over the year

I mean, my wife averages a grand total of 1 game every 2-3 years, so I'd hardly say she fits the profile of a conSOOOOMer. This is the first game she's been excited about since switch sports.
