Is there a countdown for how long it will take to run homebrew on the Switch 2? I know the Switch v1 was a joke when it came to breaking security, the OLED is much better.

Anyways, I'm on the camp of the Steam Deck 2 coming out one day, and just run emulation on it for Switch stuff. But I have a feel there will be no Steam Deck 2, and the SteamOS will just be pushed and let 3rd party companies release the handhelds, which I'm fine too.

Well, one of the major experts on jailbreaking the Switch looked at the Switch 2 design and said he doesn't think its reasonable to try and jailbreak it in any way.

Apparently it would need an entirely new approach that hasn't been seen before.

You can see in the diagram he put up that there are essentially 3 separate security layers. With the PSC intended to be watching everything the entire time for issues.

I don't think I've ever seen a design with 3 separate secure enclaves, with the PSC layer dedicated to nothing but security checks.

I'm not very bright when it comes to hardware or software, but if I understand this, the PSC is working like a middleman, interrupting the processes, verifying for tampering before it lets it pass?

Will this affect performance? Sounds like DRM but at the hardware level. I'm curious if there would be a boost in performance in the Switch 2 if you removed this like when you remove Denuvo.

This guy totally got his pre-order the other day.
Never even bought the first one, someone just left theirs in the lost and found at my old work place, no one claimed it for ~3 weeks so I took it. No one mentioned it so I still have it. Otherwise I wouldn't have ever owned a Switch because I still have both Yuzu and Ryujinx on my PC. Any game that can't be emulated is not worth playing. Unrelated, the amount of niggercattlery I've seen from this week alone, on this site of all places, is sad.

It's hard to imagine anyone losing something like that and not tracking it down.
There are a shamefully high number of people that "just buy another one". Her job has a ten month waiting period for any item in lost and found before staff get to take something. Apparently it wasn't the only time a Switch was left there either.

I think the one part about the Switch 2 that many people feel sore over is that it isn't OLED, which is a downgrade from the second hardware revision of the Switch, and people just know they are going to come out with one.

I think they are saving the OLED for later. Just like with the first Switch. They can make money off of people who want to upgrade.

I have no doubt that is exactly what they intend, and it is like a kick in the face of the people who buy the first generation of hardware.

I guess I just don't understand that mentality. With my parents growing up, I lost something, then it sucks to be you, you go without. If you don't want to go without, don't lose your shit!

As an adult, if I lose something, I tear everything apart until I either find it, or I am absolutely sure it is gone with no hope of return.

My god this thread is diseased. Of course a bunch of the Nintoddlers still end up pre-ordering the damn thing and thus the 80 dollar games will actually live on. This has gotta be one of the worst launch windows in console history, right? You've got all the time in the world to make a new 3D Mario or even something like a Luigi's Mansion type of game, that would be perfect, have 4 or 5 AA-level first party titles to snack on, but no, all you get is a not really gratifying Mario Kart and a couple of Switch 1 add-ons. If you have a Switch (and one probably does, unlike the Wii U which nobody bought), I still don't understand why you grab this thing. Even the Switch 1 had a better launch lineup despite being basically one fucking game.

35 dollars for a fucking plug and cord. At this point we should be thanking our lucky stars that Nintendo doesn't make you buy it seperately like Apple does, Nintendo would totally pull that stunt too if they think they'd get away with it.

Its looking less likely that a 3DS price drop scenario is gonna happen as with the pre-orders being sold out.
pre-orders selling out means nothing, every consoles pre-order sells out, but even if they didn't I don't see a price drop happening, the console isn't over priced, the games are

Yeah, that's also a factor. Nintendo are fucking cheapskates.

I've been able to nail down the power of the Switch 2 to almost exactly 1/2 the power of a GeForce RTX 3050. If you can somehow translate console performance into an equivalent PC graphics card, you should be able to make a fairly accurate comparison of power with Sony & Xbox.
I don't know, I rely on what I watch, read, and see to guesstimate.

That's disappointing...

Hardware wise its like a PS4 that was released in 2013, and it cost nearly as much as a PS5, so yeh its fucking over priced a lot. On top of that you have over priced baby games and all third party games sold as key-cards, that dont have the game on them at all. This is worst than the WiiU, the nintyfanboys are about to find out how bad its gonna be.

Don't worry it will be figured out eventually. But not before you pay the toll, lie about it for a while and then deny you ever bought a Switch 2 once they finally hack the thing.
