Holy shit! This thing is absolutely ground breaking! Streaming Gamecube roms at 900p in 2025 is absolutely cutting edge. I can 't wait to pay for the privilege....

Watching some Nintendo streamers, a common refrain is that their switches are getting old and cranky and they're well-positioned for what they think is just a straight upgrade. The mood is like "Switch 1 was great! Switch 2 will be that and more!" Given that Nintendo's sales figures are doing fine, I really don't see the doomers being right here.

Unfortunately, but unsurprisingly, the Switch 2 is woke and continue's Nintendo's erasure of biological sex.

Nvidia is kinda being scummy pieces of shit though. If you venture into the GPU/CPU world, they are detaching themselves from gaming and just dumping literally EVERYTHING into the AI fad.

That, and apparently they are being dicks about the kind of press they get. Steve from GamersNexus has been covering it but long story short, even the people that used to work for Nvidia are saying everything Nividia is doing is bad.

I don't think AI's a fad. It's pretty inevitably going to define our future for better or for worse.

I don’t know if it is better or worse than how the FFVII Remakes also cause page long screeching.
Remake was woke garbage so it deserved more "screeching", if anything.

>muh "old = bad!"
I would genuinely get more enjoyment out of the NES selection alone than I would out of every single ps5 exclusive combined, and yes, including former temporary exclusives like final fantasy and returnal.
If I never played any of them before then I'd agree. SMB3 is at least tied with DKC2 as my favorite platformer, but I can only beat it so many dozen times.

Yeah but, thing is, you don't. They sold through the initial shipment as soon as it went up for pre-order and Mario Kart sells itself. Why waste time advertising it now when the product isn't even going to be on store shelves for another few months.
Wii U and Dreamcast had similar starts, didn't they?

I'm a dumbass and thought they'd actually update F-Zero GX's multiplayer to modern standards with 30 people to a track, since you'd be paying a subscription for the privilege in the first place. But nah it's just GC 4-player multiplayer. Fuck you bingtendo
To be fair, that'd be remaster territory. I don't think GameCube could handle that.

What'd they do? Please no.

If it's not banned, then yes. Even if it's banned I'm sure they'll let companies use it, so it'll still define the future, we just won't have any part in it.

I expected nothing, and am still disappointed... but seriously, I at least expected a scaled back F-Zero 99 scenario where you could play GX online... but Nintendo just keeps providing me reasons to stay away. They really are just gonna play it safe for the foreseeable future, the bare minimum. Oh well, I'm sure Dolphin with netplay will figure out how to do it sooner or later. Imagine paying for two online subscriptions, one for your home, and another for Nintendo's "service" - to get access to a very restricted Gamecube library.
The original only let you do four player with the rest as CPU racers. It would probably be a huge undertaking to modify the game to have 30 human racers simutaneously.

I've been looking for a Switch 2-specific thread.

I'm not even memeing when I say that the Virtual Boy is the better option. Although it's expensive, it's justifiable due to rarity and the games will hold their value due to being playable as long as they work and not ever requiring online connections that will go down someday. So glad I got into playing it a couple years before the Switch 2, now I have even fewer reasons to buy it.

If you genuinely buy a Switch to play old NES games instead of a $100 Miyoo Mini or some shit, you're a retard and a cuck.

It's going to sell well, but not nearly as well as Switch 1 for various reasons. My guess: lifetime sales of 60-80 million units.

Although pre-orders are big, when have they not been big? Even Wii U had big pre-orders. The true success is how it's doing a few months after it comes out when it's in people's hands. Actually buying and playing the games has a way of making the hype culture turn around.

I could see a handheld only Switch 2 lite coming out relatively quickly at a lower price point if sales start slow. Honestly I think a handheld only with a sold separately dock should be the standard anyway. I don't know why they never made one.

Virtual Boy is the better option.
I remember seeing that you could emulate virtual boy games in 3D on a 3DS. I never liked the 3D effect thing but it seems like a novel thing to setup if you have a 3DS sitting around.
The console itself is horrible to use and only had 20 odd games none of which are particularly worth playing.

Even Wii U had big pre-orders.
The audience for asymmetrical gameplay with one person on a fisher-price tablet just didn't really exist. We know an audience exists for the switch.

A huge audience existed for the Wii, though and the Wii U was just a more powerful Wii that came with an extra gimmick controller. You could play most games with a wiimote and waggle to your herat's content, just as you could on Wii. Besides the poor marketing, I think people were also just over the Wii and motion controls.

Again, I don't think you're going yo see a collapse like the one in the jump from Wii to Wii U. I do think it's going to be more of a DS -> 3DS or a PS2 -> PS3 decline.

With the notable exception of PS1 -> PS2, no console has ever broken 100 million units and had its direct follow up do the same.

Wii U, at least, didn't. Switch 2 has something like a million preorders in Japan alone.
