Was Nintendo the first company to charge 70 for a AAA title?
Are you talking about in the current console generation because back in the SNES and N64 days you had games going for 70 and up depending and some were dogshit games too.
On that topic has anyone looked those old gaming magazines like EGM and Gamepro to see the old ads from mail-in retailers to see how much some games were going for back then? I have and it reminds me of old gun magazine catalogs where they couldn't give away things like Mosins and SKS's and now they go for half a G for just a beater ok off topic rant over.

Which they play on their Switch.
Usually it is either on iPad or PS4

I dont think kids are much into Nintendo anymore if not their parents are into Nintendo. The kids of today are more into Minecraft, Roblox and Fortnite and play on what ever they have. What keeps Nintendo running and allow them to have riddicules prices, are 30-40 years old millennial fanboys that buys everything.
Mario is the only thing that has a potential audience with Alpha, though it feels more so due to the Movie these days. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was huge and got many smaller children's attention, but beyond that, can't really say.

It's actually worse for Mario Galaxy 2 because they already did this for the original Wii release with a fucking DVD that came with it in Europe and Japan that told you how to play the game like you were a drooling retard.

The new "Assist Mode" just starts you out with a life mushroom and implements the anti-fall the hubworld has and if you paid extra money for the amiibo, you can ethier spawn a life mushroom or a 1-up for free, as if any part of the game is that hard, oh and the soundtracks are packed in as if that's a substantial addition worth pointing out. $40 per game and even more for the Amiibo plz.

The fact they dedicated more time to overpriced rereleases and the gay mario hollyjew movie than to Prime 4. Goytendo's disrespect for Prime is strange, you spent 8 years on it getting people's hopes up after delays and reboots, you should be hyping up this thing hard if you want it to do well, and they can't even dedicate the time to it. That's about as worrying as what looks to be a tacked on open world. 2.5 months to go.

If the headliner for Mario (Mr video game himself, you know) is a  movie, they could've atleast did a more enticing teaser. That opening with the Penguins for the first 1 basically sold millions.

So if we're on the topic of Metroid, what happened with Other M? Was it Nintendo making it or did it lease it to a third party? Did it cause Nintendo to kill the franchise?

Maybe also add Peach like what was actually planned for DS.
That true? Man, I want that.

Wow spot on about a lazy compilation. Not even 3d land, just the first 2 galaxy games. Not remakes or anything just lazy ports.
Hopefully the controls aren't still shit like in the last collection.

the new Yoshi game was a bit of a surprise. I feel that the series has kinda run its course, but I hope the devs are able to inject some new life into it.
Looks boring, unfortunately. It's in the same vein as the last Yoshi, more adventure/exploration, which isn't what I want. Just give me a good basic ass platformer, left to right.

They made the fucking god of wisdom a nigger.
Which game?

Holy shit they put a Virtual Boy attachment, the retardation is insane.
I'm pissed they not only REQUIRE an add-on, but it doesn't even support Switch Lite. Mother fuckers.

Paid DLC for what is essentially Bananza's Balloon World? :lossmanjack: Nintendo Switch Welcome Tour was the prelude to a new form of random moneygrubbing, I guess.
It's overpriced and adds virtually nothing. The island is one "layer", and a desolate, tiny one at that. It's insulting and a ripoff, it genuinely adds nothing but a new mode that should be a free update.

To add to the "race autism" of Tomodachi Life, any "white" miis are probably just intended to be Japanese, Nintendo makes games for their Japanese players first I would assume
They make games for BlackRock first now.

I mean, I’m excited for MP4, the next Fire Emblem, the Fatal Frame 2 remake, and am at the very least intrigued by the new Yoshi and Pokemon Legends (minus the whole DLC crap).

Don’t get me wrong, Nintendo deserves to be rightfully called out when they mess up. But I still find myself looking forward to a lot of what they have in store.
The only new games are Yoshi (probably ass) and Fire Emblem (surprisingly good looking?). Of course, I'm probably skipping FE because no doubt it'll have some Body Type A/B bullshit.

Both + Localization

Nintendo worked with Team Ninja to develop it. Series creator Yoshi Sakamoto and his team were heavily involved in both design and plot, so it being leased out was not what made it bad. Localization has been blamed as the stoic nature of Japan didn't translate well with westerners, making Samus feel too robotic.

As for did it kill Metroid, I will say no. Metroid was only gone for 6 years (7 if you don't count Federation Force) which can be due to a variety of factors. Retro obviously had DK and then a lot of internal issues spanning the 2010s, so Prime was placed on halt. That just left Sakamoto and co., who were probably shopping around for a new developer to take over till settling on MercurySteam. There is a note in the Wiki that says the team struggled with 3D design, hence the need to outsource.

I remember people mainly disliking the plot, don't know if it's just culture clash with westerners wanting Samus to be a girlboss and japanese making her demure warrior. I do remember the gameplay was also criticized in being underwhelming.

Off the top of my head:
- You control Samus from a 3rd person perspective in a 3D environment by holding the Wii-mote horizontally like an NES controller. Try to imagine how much of a pain it is to move correctly in 3D space with just a D-pad.

- Until you have to shoot missiles, in which case you point the Wiimote at the screen to enter first-person mode, but now you can't move until you hold the Wiimote horizontally again. Which is a pity because the first person mode looks and controls well. You can imagine how this might open you up to take damage when trying to switch between control schemes while trying to blast a boss with missiles.

- Occasionally the game will just stop in the middle of a cutscenes and force you to play I Spy with the Wii-mote so that Samus can identify some interesting detail and point it out to the other characters to continue the story. I distinctly remember one of these being a pile of green puke on top of some already green grass, almost invisible.

- The story is full of a lot of repetitive dialogue that overly-explains what a character is feeling, or summarizes story events that literally just happened five minutes ago. There was also a side plot where one of the Federation Soldiers Samus is with is secretly evil and killing everyone else off. I don't remember if they ever revealed who that was or why he was killing everyone off. I think maybe he wanted to steal the secrets of making Metroids and sell them off to the highest bidder?

Overall, easily the worst Metroid I've played, and I personally think it's the reason Nintendo put the franchise on ice for almost a decade.
