This hacker group appears to be in for money and previously hit Red Hat and Amazon Web Services to ransom them. I wouldn't expect anything like that to leak out because of this attack, they're probably looking to ransom Nintendo rather than leak information to the public, and any info they have is probably boring business stuff or maybe info on in-development games rather than old material on 30 year old canceled games.

It could still be interesting, ransom groups often sell and/or leak what they got when they don't get a ransom. If it goes anything like the CDPR and Insomniac hacks, we'll be eating good.

Now watch as the monkey’s paw curls again and we get 2.7TB of mindless Pokemon shit yet again where no one but the most ADHD medication abusing will give a shit about 95% of it

Pretty surprising Nintendo doesn't go for it with how many shitty Earthbound clones are made every other week. Not that it has any chance to be good since the genre became a parody of itself and any of the original team has moved on.

I do hope that they sue some indies for "made decades after the fact" patents.

The reason they don't release anything from it isn't so much because it was a HAL thing but because the game was such a trainwreck of game dev that it's assumed that they never really got more than the prologue fully worked out in all that time due to Duke Nukem tier feature creep, lack of understanding of 3D game dev early on and the entire game just being way too out there even for the era. If you see shots from early in development the game legit looked like Cruelty Squad with texture filtering, it took them that long to get a grip on 3D.

It’s being reported Nintendo was hacked by some known hacker group.

Haxoring Nintendo is ontologically good. Hope something nice comes out of it.
With what people who have a better idea about this kind of stuff have been able to snuff out from it so far.... Unfortunately, nothing really significant is gonna come out as it's just website data they got, not the actual servers holding the good shit we're wanting like Horizon OS Switch 2 source code for example.

In essence, unless there's some miracle and there happens to be some big leaks that come from this breach (If Nintendo doesn't just pay the ransom enough for the group to just not leak it), nothing ever happens

Boring, I hope they get caught and have the book thrown at them.

“Something something” Gorochu “something something”
Let me finally see the fucking front sprite :'(

I hate virtually every EB clone, I'd love to see Nintendo crush these things.

If it's something worth paying ransom for, it's likely something that ought to be leaked. If nothing comes out despite the stink, then you know it's just a nothingburger meant to gather attention from people curious about Nintendo one way or the other.

What's more likely, everyone else being autistic or your spoiled upbringing coloring your perspective? My parents definitely couldn't drop that kinda money on a whim for something I didn't even ask for.
Only time my family has ever done that is with stuff that I probably would have asked for anyway. Otherwise, expensive stuff was never just randomly bought for me.
You know what's funny is that boomer mentality is Nintendo's biggest asset yet they loathe it. Back in the day they would have training videos and memos about product labeling and they were ANAL about how any video game console was "the nintendo" regardless of it being a Genesis or Playstation etc but because Sally Soccermom didn't know any better the name Nintendo is the zeitgeist of all video games to anyone that's a millenial or older. EDIT I had to look it up just to remember but that the don't call it A NINTENDO was from like fuckin' 1990 and I also found an uber anal memo sent out about how retailers should write out and say what the Gamecube was, fucking faggots made it read like a Ray Jay Johnson bit (you can call me ray, and you can call me jay).

It's because they didn't want Nintendo to become the video game version of Velcro. The company behind the original velcro really doesn't like when you call clones of their product velcro. Think it's related to some trademark thing.

It's how trademark works. For reference, copyright is ownership over some kind of creative work and in many countries including the US you're considered to have it as soon as you make the work even without formal registration. As the word suggests, it's your right to "copy" the work and distribute it other people, if other people distribute copies of it or copy unique concepts from it into their own work then they're violating your copyright. You have copyright until it expires (long after your death) or unless you deliberately go through a process to formally relinquish ownership.

Trademark is as the word suggests, a "mark" proving its you doing the trade. Trademarks are words (names) or symbols (logos) that are used to signify to customers that a particular person or company who owns the trademark made that product. This can things like company names and logos, brand names and logo, and the titles and logos to creative works. While copyright is considered something of a moral right (ownership over something you made), trademark is more out of practicality (to prevent market confusion and scams), as such it's easier to lose trademark than it is copyright. Trademark has no expiration date and can be hypothetically kept forever if you keep using it, but if you stop using a trademark for long enough or if someone else uses your trademark to the point that the name/logo can no longer be solidly argued to always refer to your product when customers think of it, then your trademark can end up being voided.

That's why companies will sometimes re-register trademarks for things like old games even when they have no plans to make more, because the process lets them keep their claim to the name so others can't use it, otherwise you'll get situations like Rocket Company letting their trademark to Medabots lapse in Europe so some Spanish cryptobro could legally claim it to use as the name of his scam mobile game that has nothing to do with Medabots. And all this is why companies are weary of their name being synonymous with the product they're selling, like Velcro or Band-Aid or Kleenex or Styrofoam, since they're at risk for losing their trademark under the argument that the average has no idea it's a brand name and thinks it's the name of the product as a general concept, so their competitors making the same type of product should also legally be allowed to call it that.

SSJ_Ness and I just want whatever prototype roms they used to take those few screenshots we saw. It'd give some interesting insight into how they were gonna shift the game into 3D. I don't even think we saw a battle scene.

The screenshots made the game look dark and a little gothic. N64's very low-end graphics might have made the game a little creepier than intended. That's more or less why the curiosity survives, despite the game getting a full fan translation seventeen years ago now.

Been a while since I watched it, but I think some Spaceworld footage showed battles. What always sticks out most in my head is the minecart scene, it was really cinematic (in the good way, not the "modern Soyny cinematic experience" kinda way).

To go on a bit of a random tangent, minecart segments are one of those video game things that hits just right, like waterfalls or trains segments.

Honestly, they fucked up not picking the game back up on Gamecube when the artstyle they made for Kirby Air Ride/SSBM was perfect for it and the hardware was advanced enough for all their ambitions.

I'm surprised it wasn't a Robot Chicken parody. It's sad that show is canceled
Robot Chicken was REALLY running of steam even in 2016 and got infected with TDS iirc.

Also, no one talks about the Robot Chicken Nintendo Direct.

You forgot the option of "it contains a lot of the most tantalizing stuff fans wanted to see but Nintendo paid $$$ (or, ¥¥¥¥¥) and we won't release it after all".

Supposedly they considered an EB for GC, but it never got past the concept phase, seems they were just spitballing ideas.
