It's been really funny to see people change their tune on this thing's success. After months of "it's not flopping it's not flopping", everybody's pretty much in agreement that this thing was DOA.

What the fuck are you talking about? Most of us agree that the thing is just showcasing soyslop, so far.

You're starting to see people on X talk about it in the same breath as the Dreamcast, Wii U, and PS Vita. It's a nice, high quality console, but nobody's buying it.
Thing still feels like Switch OLED HD edition to me. Needs some shit that is unique to it, but I suspect we won’t see that for quite awhile.
With the current sales numbers, I expect that Nintendo's going to pivot to mainly multi-gen releases. Also I will say that it already has two really good exclusives in Kirby Air Riders and DK. I also have super high hopes for The Duskbloods and think that might end up being a console defining title.

Switch 2 is peak "Consoom product, get hyped for next product". Every exclusive so far had people going how it's an amazing revolutionary game, only for discussion to disappear after 2 weeks.

It's had two notable exclusives and people spent months talking/bitching about both of them. What the fuck are you on about?

From what I remember:
* Mario Kart World - Everybody speaking on how much of an improvement it is. Ends up being so much shit that people play the previous game.
* Donkey World Country - "Best platformer of the year that invented breakable terrain", forgotten after too many people called it a game for babies.
* Kirby Air Riders - "How Mario Kart World should have been", one week later radio silence.
* Pokemon A/Z - Sucked so much that even the fans had to accept it.
* Metroid 4 - Hype vanished as the memes piled on.

Kirby Air Riders is still too far ahead of its time, which is kind of ironic, as it's a sequel to an old game, but Gamecube-era Nintendo was still concerned with novelty, not just nostalgia. In a sense, there's a lot more to do than in other racers, and the differences between eg. characters, machines, etc. are actually significant, instead of "just barely different" like most Mario Kart options.

You are still talking about the games, so the "discussion" part of it rages on.
The only literal flops were the cripple basket game and the new Hyrule Warriors that didn't even got a mention from the usual places.

But honestly barely any major games besides Expedition 33, Silksong and ARC Raiders got any kind of "hype cycle" this year:
-Split Fiction didn't even got nominated to GOTY on the Game Awards and was mostly forgotten.
-The great return of Silent Hill pales in comparison to RE7.
-KCD2 hype died down with the controversy.
-Hades 2 hype cycle got exhausted during early access.
-Avowed and Outer world 2 exists.
-Kojima got denied after spending so much time sucking off the western culture.

We are pretty much living on the age of cheap meme games, I probably got more stuff from Peak and Schedule I on my youtube feed than anything else this year.

Two of those aren't exclusives and Air Riders wasn't a major game. The other two were talked about/bitched about for months.

The new year has come, meaning I am personally curious to see what Nintendo does this year to really expand the Switch 2 as we are really lacking in announced content. As a quick reminder, here is the lineup we are looking at for this year so far:
  • Mario Tennis Fever - February 12th
  • Pokémon Pokopia - March 5th
  • Yoshi and The Mysterious Book - Autumn 2026
  • Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave - 2026
  • Splatoon Raiders - 2026

Nintendo Switch 2 Editions
  • Animal Crossing New Horizons Switch 2 Edition - January 15th
  • Super Mario Bros Wonder + Meet Up in Bellabel Park - Autumn 2026

Nintendo Switch 1 Releases:
  • Tomodachi Life Living The Dream - Autumn 2026
  • Rhythm Heaven Groove - 2026
Honestly, a pretty rough list, only 5 actual new titles for Switch 2 and the new editions being arguably some of the weakest in terms of new content. Switch 1 releases are interesting in adding more variety with some of Nintendo's nicher titles.

Personal hopes, I would like to see Hotel Dusk come back like what was formerly rumored when Another Code did. Now that the Switch 2 has mouse controls, it could be a more faithful adaptation of the two games. Otherwise, best bets are on a Kirby Forgotten Land follow-up and Luigi's Mansion 4, maybe a WarioWare for good measure. I am thinking Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Smash, and a few other big boys are sadly going to be held off based on development circumstances.

If we are doing more Switch 2 Editions, Three Houses is an obvious one. It could use better graphics and they could finally complete Edelgard's rushed route to not cut off halfway through. Would also be a great way to advertise the next FE. Then, in terms of DLC, everyone wants MK World, so hopefully they address it in the earliest direct.

Edit: Forgot Splatoon Raiders

My one wish is that this thing gets hacked given the hardware in it has some serious modding/emulation potential. Maybe then i might consider a switch 2 ( also obviously so i can shove a fat middle finger to ninty and pirate their shit lol)

Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave
This might be the only other one besides the tennis game that'll actually attract people. But...It's also one of those things that just doesn't feels as great as it looks.
Mario Tennis Fever
Kind of standard fare, given the series recent history. Might be the next Mario Kart World, in a way.

Pokémon Pokopia
Goyslop that's aimed for kids.

Yoshi and The Mysterious Book
It's nice if you're unironically into cozy games, at least.
