If anything the Japanese version was even more on the nose.
The Japanese read this and laugh because it’s clearly a joke. The American reads this and seethes/says “yaas” because God forbid trannies be joked about.

Switch 2 has officially updated sales. 17 million units sold in less than a year. Surpassing the Wii U’s total, which says more about the Wii U than anything.

The Switch 2 already selling more than the Wii U despite only having TWO good exclusives shows that, while the Wii U was an underwhelming console with barely any third-party support, brand power and perception plays a HUGE role in how well a console sells.

Also see: PS5.

NOTE: I say this as someone who bought a Switch 2 on Day 1, so I am part of the problem.

Playing old games at better resolutions with better framerates helps, too. Even if a lot of those are paid upgrades.

Yeah, but the WiiU was released a little bit before everyone and their grandparents had climbed onto goytendo's ship. Plus, companies like Square are working overtime to indirectly draw people to the Switch 2

The Switch 2 version is also on the cartridge and does not require a download. I have Kirby and the Forgotten Land Switch 2 Edition and can confirm.
The Super Mario Galaxy issue is a different thing, where Nintendo can put Switch 1 games on a blacklist so they don't run on Switch 2 unless you download a patch, and for some reason they did that with it even though its Switch 2 support was advertised before release.
If you buy a "Switch 2 Edition" game on a cartridge, it will work correctly on a Switch 2 with the enhancements included. Some Switch 1 games make you download patches for compatibility reasons.
I'm actually pleasantly surprised this is the case. With all the key-card shenanigans, I was half expecting a situation where you couldn't actually own a physical copy of the Switch 2 editions of games like BOTW.

Were you not alive for the Wii era? Nintendo went from cultural apex to the most uncool thing ever and then back to apex. The 2010s in hindsight were a wild fucking decade for the N

Thinking about "originality" again and how the "mario galaxy movie"'s trailer was mainly just odyssey shit led me to thinking about some other stuff. Mario odyssey bringing back area specific npcs and enemies was a nice return to form but everything since seems to just now be referencing odyssey instead of coming up with new guys (we don't talk about wonder's plant niggas fuck those dollar general toads)

Paper mario was one of the worst hit by the generic-ification era of Mario because they did a bunch of wacky and cool things with the npcs before that like makind the robots actual boxes and shit sometimes. The mario rpgs in general really did a good job of varying up character designs within the whole mario style of things as far back as the first one on the SNES.

I rambled about that a bit though at some vague earlier point I think (focused mainly on toads because yeah) so here have a reminder that on the platformer paper mario game that's the last one with actual paper mario design philosophy you had an entire area with these little niggas that were basically that area's goomba equivalent.

return to giving the people areas in mario games with specialized goomba-esques nintendo you COWARDS

The Wii just felt like a castrated PS3, to me. Granted, the first-party stuff was good enough. But nearly everything else that my Game Stop was offering for it was those gay party games and other forms of shovelware.

But shit like this is relatively great, really should have gave Francis a larger role, imo. But that game just felt kind of uneventful when it came to actually fighting. Otherwise, it's mostly good. Although it absolutely can't compete with it's predecessor

He's talking about how popular they were, not the power of the system. Between DS and Wii, Nintendo pushed over 250-million consoles out the door in the mid to late 2000s. They have 20 years of absolute blockbuster sales outside the Wii U. If it weren't for Wii U, their worst selling console in 20 years would be 3DS which still sold over 75-million units. Wii U is clearly an aberration. It has nothing to do with people climbing onto "goytendo's ship" in the Switch era.

Partner Showcase is up. What are we all predicting/hoping for:

Going unrealistic, I want to see some PlayStation classics hit the Switch systems. We already got Everybody Golf and Patapon, so maybe another underrated strangler can find its way over since Sony clearly doesn't care about the back catalogue anymore. Any of their platformers I would take.

Realistic predictions:
  • Sonic Racing Crossworlds will hit the system soon with a Switch 2 edition.
  • LEGO Batman will likely get a spotlight as it is coming out in May.
  • Probably Silent Hill 2 remake will be shown running on Switch 2.
  • Nier Replicant would also be a big one potentially, Square did update Automata for Switch 2 two months ago.
  • Given it was a direct that announced the Looney Tunes sports game from GameMill, I could see Nick All-Stars Brawl 3 announced since it has been heavily rumored for awhile with a leaked screenshot.

Is this real units sold? I know that Nintendo was boasting how well the Switch 2 was selling a month or two after it's release, but then it was discovered the numbers Nintendo were using was units shipped to stores and not actual units sold.

I am skeptical.

Also, it is a shame the WiiU was seen as a Wii 2/ Wii Pro kind of unit. For a long time it was my go to home console for emulation. Could be watching TV while playing something. Now My Steam Deck took over that role and the WiiU is in a closet with most of my old consoles.
Nintendo failed to properly inform the people about the Wii and WiiU differences and I think that led to the poor sales.

really should have gave Francis a larger role, imo.
I personally like it how francis is literally just some guy. Like he's just a random extremely wealthy nerd autismo that likes butterfly photography. Also like just how in depth they go into him being "just a guy" by having the enemies and npcs just being housekeeper robots and most of the rooms just being hallways or rooms containing shit like his Internet history or books he owns which are all just pop culture parody shit. His whole deal is kinda being an "anti-bowser" of a sort in a sense with how his personality seems to be.

I could be misremembering but I'm pretty sure they also kinda imply the castle he's in used to be one of bowser's.

Anyways the entire area is similar tot he zelda TP yeti house dungeon where it's just you going through someone's house which is cool overall as already stated. it's more in-depth than the zelda one somehow though.

Fallout will be featured with 3, 4 and New Vegas ports. I’ll also predict 1 and 2 will be digital ports in a dual package.

Change butterflies to beetles and you're describing Booster from Mario RPG.
You also have the forced marriage factor with booster though which I think is pretty important and slightly more nefarious than francis. Francis is like "aw shit cool a butterfly I better take some pics of it to post online on my favorite butterfly observation forum"
