"Topic titles should contain aliases. Keep thread titles as brief as possible and use all their different usernames."

Notice how a lot of new threads are getting longer titles?

After a few months of the overwhelming amount of threads, people have been clickbaity as fuck in the titles in attempt to garnish attention to boring threads.

  • It's aloggy and desperate.
  • So many threads have buzzwords in their title include Trainsperg, Foamer, Pedophile, Gamergate, etc.
  • It will deter people from defending themselves on their own threads because of the #triggering title.
  • The thread's title should add all of their usernames. Having a limit on the title limits all the possible names we can add.
  • We have the tag system you morons. Call them a pedo there.

Does this really matter? Who cares? With like 100's of cows, a brief description helps you know if you want to read their thread or not.

Also, where's our Arcade?

I think you would have gotten better results if you titled this thread "Five reasons you need to stop making clickbait titles RIGHT NOW"

I agree with OP, I'm not keen, and it's often why I stick to older lolcows.

Stefonknee's title is about as descriptive as you can get without it being an overwhelming info-dump word salad.

Good job. Let's ignore the content itself and let's turbosperg about the most insignificant part of the thread.

I find this to be one of the most vague policies here and I'm on the side where a brief description in a few words in the title is acceptable and can summarize what this cow out of like hundreds does and why they're significant. People get way fancier and carried away with titles in the ADF subforum.

Cool, let's overmoderate the lolcow forum now too. Descriptive thread titles are triggering and may cause sensory overload.

To be on the safe side all thread titles should suggest that the subject is the new Chris-Chan.

We should have long exaggerated titles for all new threads

Also we should have signatures

I support allowing short descriptive titles. Just a slew of names/altnames doesn't really tell people what to expect, but if you throw in a few descriptive words, hey presto!
Admittedly, super-long titles do seem rather clickbaity and desperate..

Lol I don't think you need click bait titles what with your 150 posts since joining yesterday

I miss subtitles from PHPBB. I want an add-on to add those back.

Seriously though, shorter is better. Or like Null suggested, sub-titles would be awesome.

I have a better idea.

Let's have Nice Meme on all boards.

This should be decided on a case by case basis. A few people who make thread titles that fit more Kotaku articles than anything else shouldn't get to ruin descriptive thread titles for the rest.
