I've told this story before, but in school--I think when I was about 11--my friend group had this one boy who just suddenly became obsessed with dicks, and he liked to say "pecker" as much as possible.
At first we thought it was funny, but after like the first week, it was annoying. Like if someone mentioned Woody Woodpecker, he'd laugh. Or he'd find ways to make every conversation about "peckers." Just for example, someone once mentioned grabbing the hammer in Donkey Kong (the Gameboy remake would have come out around this time) and he somehow made that about "peckers."
And we told him "dude, stop, its annoying." But he wouldn't, and just accused us of being "no fun."
Here's what finally got him to stop: one of us in the group snapped and almost strangled the guy. Like seriously, Pecker-kid's face went blue and everything. If we hadn't stopped him, pecker-kid would be dead now.
Then and only then did he stop with the pecker jokes. And even then, for about a year I could not stand to hear the word "pecker." Like even watching the movie Willow was impossible without me having an angry reaction.
That's the effect KF has had on me with "nigger" and to a lesser extent, "faggot" and "troon."
Like, I get it, I understand wanting to stretch your legs because you're on the one part of the internet where you can say these words uncensored. But this is exactly what led that one friend of mine to say "pecker" so often, that he realized he could get away with it.
And anyway, just because you can do something, does not mean its required. That's what really gets me--how often it feels shoehorned in, like you could have used any other word but you defaulted to one of the three. You could have said "idiot" or "retard" but instead you used "nigger." It's overdone.
