'No Stupid Questions' (NSQ) Internet & Technology Edition

I apologize if this question has been asked before and answered, but what are the ways to tell if something is AI generated?
Is there a software that you can analize files with and detect if they're deepfakes or something?
Thank you!
The fingers or words are usually a good tell for images, but it is getting harder and harder to tell which is why so many people are scared shitless.

all i know is for photoshop, there is a software which can detect if a picture has been edited by light and shadow changes/percentages.

for AI pictures, look at their fingers, it has trouble creating exactly 5 fingers, also some headshapes or faces are the same.

for deepfakes, look at the background if anything is changing and look if the face is always moving in the same directions or if same lip movements are happening.

voices: they aren't 100% perfect either, you will always hear a lag/stop in the voice or the pitch of the sound going unexpectedly up or down, due to some letters or words not being trained enough, to create a perfect voice.

there might be a software for AI detection but i don't know anything about that.

Is there a way to mass rename files? Specifically mass remove a single letter/symbol from a bunch of file names. I wanna mass rename a bunch of music which all have ~ signs on the file name without doing it one by one.
~hello Voidtools my old friend, time to recommend you once again~
Voidtools Everything.

Search for ~ then specify audio in the search menu, highlight all the files and press F2(or right click rename). You will get a before-after box for the old and new names and a preview box showing what the final result will be. That way you know what you are doing before committing to it.

Fingers are a good way to tell as mentioned earlier but also I'd like to advise that, if you see images with niggers in any sort of greatly exalted position that appears to belie history or common sense, they are most likely almost certainly AI-generated. Witness:

For text, I know teachers who will put strange prompts into each question but try hiding them by making its color match the background. I don't know how someone wouldn't notice when pasting or when reading ChatGPT's output, but it seems to get past a few students.

The first and biggest hint is any background text. If it looks normal and readable, it's probably real. If it's just garbled bars, misspelled, or missing letters, it's AI. Faces also used to be hard with hands in particular.

However, AI still produces shiny, polished skin tones. @Belisarius Cawl had a good example but it's endemic in AI stuff.

fellas, how do i know when a BSOD is a software or a hardware issue?

some info:

it seems to be these two drivers, but i tried reisntalling all drivers and it did not seem to work :(

Is Avast! still a decent anti-virus? I used to use it when it was recommended in the early 2010s and kept up with it with for years, but that was way, way back in the XP days and I already have Malwarebytes Free.

I'd rather not reinstall Avast. It had a lot of windows that used to pop up.

windows defender does its job good enough, so you wont have to need an anti virus unless you want to remove viruses.

I know you've had a couple of other replies, but I think PowerRename is worth a mention. It's part of Microsoft PowerToys, a free bundle of small tools that enhance Windows.

Once it's installed, you can right-click a folder or bunch of files and choose "Rename with PowerRename". It has some fairly advanced functionality, but it's also easy to use and you can see the before and after before making any changes.

To remove ~ symbols, you would just enter ~ into the "Search for" box at the top, then leave the "Replace with" box blank.

For example: -

HP Laptop got a bit toasty and won't post. I've had HPs in the past, and usually just removing the battery and draining current will get you somewhere, but this one is soldered on. HDMI out isn't working, black screen on startup.
All of my school shit is on this and I'm tweaking about losing the data for my reports.

Edit: Forcing battery drain for a bit seemed to have worked, dunno quite why

Laptops fucking suck these days. They rarely actually "turn off" (just like Windows Shutdown is actually hybrid sleep now) but if it happens again, just try holding the power button for like 15 or 20 seconds. I have an old MacBook Pro with a bad graphics switcher so I have to fuck with that sometimes if it gets stuck in a failure state.

Yeah I saw that recommended. The thing that kind of fucked me somewhat is that I have GRUB, so all of the documentation online kind of assumed that I could use windows recovery or the like
