Megathread Non-binary genders / Enbies - When Male and Female Aren't Special Enough

I have a personal sorta-lolcow that I've kinda been holding back from posting about seeing as she's not a crazy tumblrina who hates white people, or straight people. I've even interacted with her on YT and she's friendly enough, but she got into tumblr fashion/melanie martinez and adopted a VERY special identity that to be honest I didn't even know had been coined yet.

I've actually been following this person on social media for a while as her comedy and style appealed to me, until she uploaded the above to her "spare" channel about 'pangender'

Now I've never heard of this and instead of being neither or both genders, you are ALL THE GENDERS
I mean I would take her seriously but I also follow her on insta when she came out on there too. She doesn't have any body dysphoria, but she said (and I quote from her insta): "i feel the same every day no matter what I look like. That's what makes me pangender as opposed to genderfluid. I don't go through feminine or masculine periods I just always feel like me"
Apologies in advance, I can't re-size the pictures without the text screwing around

So first off, she's so unsure of her identity that she's having people choose her "gender expression"... But that would be based on what she wants, not what other people 'vote' for.
Then the person who is sadly no longer on insta asked "shouldn't it be based on how you feel?" because that's the sole basis for even genderfluids flip-flopping between genders every day.

It's literally because she wants to have a "balance" between gender presentations AKA DRAG in her case, though this was short lived as she only tried to pass as a boy a few times in the following months, but that's about it.
Drag queens aren't women. Drag kings aren't men. They may transition after doing drag and realised they feel more comfortable as a man or woman.
Dressing in stereotypically masculine clothes does not make you a boy, or some third gender, or as she says in her video "all the genders" (all 76?)

She also uploaded a video called "pansexual problems" to her main channel.
Now personally I don't know about pansexuality as I feel like "sexuality" is only limited to two sexes. Male and Female.
For arguments sake, let's say there are more than two genders; however people only have male and female genitalia. No matter how many genders there are there are still only two solid, 100% biological sexes; and I'd include "intersex", however that's an anomaly that applies to a small percentage of the population (0.05% to be realistic), and most intersex people (i'm going by people I know personally) choose to live as male or female I believe and don't like being used as an excuse for nonbinary genders even existing. Besides, nobody has said about only being attracted to intersex people nor do i know of a term for that if it's a thing.
I mean if you're having sex with someone, they usually have either MALE or FEMALE anatomy.

Pangender... I just can't.

Update on this minor lolcow.... I know this is late af, but i thought I'd share it.

Turns out she isn't pangender, was hopping on bandwagon, and honestly owns it pretty well. It's an optimistic day for us all, but this is one genderspecial that realised it's not for them. one.

Once more; isn't this just a case of needing to be unique? Imagine someone going out of their way to use emojis to address you. The sheer power surge erecting your feminine penis as you realize you made someone do as you wished out of sheer 'respect'.

It's like an OC except expressed through letters.

Some forms of moonspeak don't have gender pronouns and it's cringy when they try to import English words inside the language they speak. The need to be unique and special combined with idiocy.

The lengths people go to coming up with new words that only are unique to internet-speaking world but serve no purpose when interacting with normal people that don't have urban dictionary at their disposal.

No wonder people like this hate criticisms of Mary Sues.

They want to live their entire lives as Mary Sues.

How would you even use an emoji pronoun in real life? Do you literally have to make the face mid sentence?

Or have they completely forgot about real world interaction by now?

In real life, people misgender them (or should I say : Gender them correctly because they're either male or female), so ofc they don't go outside.

To brighten the mood of this thread I have a story. I wasn’t sure where this would belong exactly, maybe personal lolcows at first but then something changed my mind.

So a friend of mine is trans. The first time I met them they weren’t “out” and so I was introduced to them as female. Soon after, their facebook posts began to get progressively more SJW and eventually they came out as Non-Binary, prefering they/them pronouns. As they were my friend, I really tried to work with it out of respect, as they were always nice to me.

Fast forward maybe a year or so, and they began working on fundraising and like LGBT support in our hometown- running social events and workshops for LGBT people in the area, which is a lot more than most tumblrites do to “support” the community. The events were pretty popular, with even our local MP attending one of them as a way of getting to know the people in his constituency better I guess. It was around this time that I realised a shift in my friend’s posts- things about binders and dysphoria started popping up more and less about gender fluidity or whatever.

Fast forward to this year and basically some kind of miracle occurred: they were released from the tumblr mentality. Now, “they” are fully identifying as a man, he/him pronouns and the like. He started hormones a few weeks ago and, after months of fundraising (not e-begging, he runs a tattoo studio/art gallery), he had his top surgery yesterday. I think he is still very much for the inclusion of “all” genders, however he is very much for educating people and engaging in discussion with people/answering questions from others who have no idea about trans issues. It’s refreshing to actually have someone who’s trans who doesn’t mind answering questions about their transition, instead of being called some form of cis scum.

There is hope for these exceptional tumblr users, although it’s a tiny glimmer at this point as this mentality is being very much normalised. Personally I couldn’t care less what you want to identify as, I just get annoyed when it becomes some form of intense operation to navigate around what is and isn’t “offensive” or a “micro aggression.”

I wish more trans folk were like my friend. Like we don’t agree on everything for sure, but just them being open to discussion is miles better than most these days. Unfortunately I know someone on the exact opposite of the spectrum when it comes to this though- maybe I should write about that in personal lolcows sometime. To give you an idea, I’m an animation student and will be writing a thesis soon. This person’s thesis topic is something along the lines of “Queer representation in 90s Anime.”

Steven's Universe creator comes out as a "nonbinary woman," which I guess is when you're biologically female and you look like a girl and you have no dysphoria and you don't mind everyone seeing you as a girl, but you aren't constantly thinking "I'm a woman" to yourself and that makes you a different gender

I know what you mean. The closest friend I have who is trans (ftm) is also one of the most open minded people I know. I can discuss anything with them and he doesn't lose his shit at me. I wish more trans people and LGBT people would be like him. If they were, these people would be a lot more easy to tolerate.

I suppose you could be generous and say that "non-binary" is just a fancier way of saying "gender non-conforming."

In which case, yes, Sugar would be a "non-binary woman."

But how Rebecca is non-conforming ? Because she cut her hair ? Non-binary woman is just like an asexual with sexual relationship : pick. one. don't claim be both, that doesn't make any sense.

Talk about gems, yes we can say they're non-binary because they are rocks, but the concept of non-binary rocks doesn't even exists, gems are not "non-binary" they are... Rocks, and in the show, gems have a female body and are gendered as she and most of the relationships are seen as... Lesbians relationship. Yes they don't have genitals, but who cares ? Is it really necessary to know if they have a supposed vagina to know that they're female ? No because they meant to be female anyway.

It's like anthropomorphism : The concept is to make something non-human as human, acting like humans to be seen and accepted as human and that means being male or female. Same as gems. "Non-binary" female gems is just a stupid concept made ©tumblr.
