>Furbys are similar to angels.
>Furbys are similar to angels.
so are angels secretly NB icons too?
inb4 someone posts an enby furby
I am glad to know that the world's top minds in furbology are hard at work cracking this one. Some people theorize that you can answer this question by the pitch of their voice
Do you suppose Furbys are another trademark of autists, alongside gendershit? Because it seems like a lot of genderspecials and general autists are drawn to them.
i think is more like kids stuff in general. Its always something preteens would latch onto, Sonic or furbys were both cool and non threatening enough to catch their interest when they were super hyped but autists are not very good dealing change or letting go of something once they become emotionally attached to it, they might even grow more obsessed with it as they grow older and become adults, rather than the other way around.Do you suppose Furbys are another trademark of autists, alongside gendershit? I blame Uranus and Neptune, and all the femboys on that series for that.i think is more like kids stuff in general. Sailor moon is another big one, probably the biggest among the genderspecials.

but they really took it and ran with it. Sailor moon was very binary still, it was a very girly show about girly girls who like girly things, is really crazy how fandoms filters and twists stuff, input sailor moon in the 90s and comes out steven universe on the other end in the 010s.I blame Uranus and Neptune, and all the femboys on that series for that.
Furbys and Sanrio were also very popular with the menhera aesthetic and pastel goth, i remember seeing a lot of those white and pink glitery furbys on their pictures. A lot of the creepy mods are just part of that concept of "im a cute baby but evil jijiji uwu"Going into the furby tag on tumblr yields some fantastically bizarre results.
It could be normal enough, but autists really push things to eleven to the point they are not. Like, some office dude with a Sonic action figure on his desk should not be too weird, could just be a memento or a gift from someone, but you inmediatly have flashbacks of Chris Chan and curse images on DA you should not have clicked on.You are on the right track with this, and you can substitute furbies with practically any nostalgic concept out there. It's why you see so many genderspecials obsessed with cartoons and anime, and why so many of them overlap with otherkin communities. They retreat into fictional fantasy worlds to escape from whatever the fuck is going on in their lives. Poor coping mechanisms are a staple.
Agreed, though I think an even better direct parallel to Furbies are the worms-on-strings (that go by a million different brand names apparently), since the worms are also physical toys with a very basic gimmick that have gotten a recent revival specifically among these types. The only real difference between their comeback and Furbies is that I have yet to see a custom-made monster worm. I'm sure someone's tried to make one.i think is more like kids stuff in general. I had never seen those in my life but sure enough, among the first results in google images a bunch of gay tumblr stuff.Agreed, though I think an even better direct parallel to Furbies are the worms-on-strings (that go by a million different brand names apparently), since the worms are also physical toys with a very basic gimmick that have gotten a recent revival specifically among these types. There's even gay tumblrdiasporaOCs of string-worms, too!
To get back on topic though, it's been said above but it really does make sense that it's a manifestation of nostalgia and maybe not wanting to grow up to an extent, just with the extra flair of it being overkill and identity politics being forced in in the most annoying ways possible. Isn't it weirdly infantilizing to be spreading sooper srs messages with children's toys anyways?
