Not-E3 2024 Thread - A place to discuss the whole week's worth of video game broadcasts and announcement

Never played it and might pick it up. What should I expect? The OG is from Grasshopper and that's a good sign.
I don’t know, I’ve never played it. Unfortunately I can’t play the original because it’s so expensive, but I’ll be able to play for the first time with the remaster. It just seems like one of those games from a lost era when games were still fun.

It was originally supposed to be a remake but then they decided to just do a remaster based on the feedback from the fans.

Summer Games Fest had some cool stuff, but I've been skipping everything else. Just don't have the patience for anything outside the big events this year. Xbox tomorrow and hopefully Nintendo will announce their thing early next week.

I'm not one to call indie games based on other franchises knockoffs but this is absolutely a crash bandicoot knockoff

It is a slow-paced hack-&-slash with heavy focus on style, I would assume very close to No More Heroes. The humor is about on par with late 00s Adult Swim/Comedy Central and the soundtrack is very 80s-00s. It is a fun ride held up by its dialogue, just don’t expect a masterpiece.

Cross your fingers and pray, mate. It's possible that they'll fuck it up somehow.
I'd be surprised if they didn't mess with it a little bit, but for some reason I expect only minor shenanigans this time, probably no deal breakers.

Something more positive on the news, lollipop chainsaw remaster will get a release date announcement on June 13th. A small glimmer of hope.
lolwut? They announced a date on which they'll announce the date on which they'll release the game?

How many women(male) in "Women-led Games"?

Didn't pay much attention to that Showcase since there's a limit on how many Stardew Valley clones, gay furry walking simulators, barely interactive narrative experiences and mobile games masquerading as PC exclusives I can stomach before zoning out, but you should have seen the live chat when those fetching programmer-sock-wearing Bachelorettes showed up. I don't know if those can be recovered but the chat went from excessively cutesy and almost fake (with a few obvious men trolling here and there) to TERF Nation in the span of a second. I might have missed other "women in gaming" moments since I was doing other things while this insipid, self-aggrandizing shit was playing on the background.

[Timestamp for the curious]

EDIT:
Turns out that yes, you can recover the live chat from youtube videos, wonderful!. But sadly it looks like the jannies have swept all negative comments up. If you replay it now it's 40 seconds of very telling total chat silence while those dudes talk about the game they have developed in their goon caves since all comments were very negative at that point, and just a couple of inoffensive remarks survived the jannie's wrath.

I'm all for it honestly. Remastering obscure but pretty good older games could be a nice way for some studios to make money.
From what I understand the idea was that you never know who The Thing was and could be any one of your party members. The problem was that the devs couldn't nail the surprise factor that well and The Thing would pop up out of party member always at the same point even after giving every one "the test". So hopefully the remaster fixes those issues and gives a true paranoid experience of being around a body snatching shape shifting alien trapped in a froze wasteland.

They could definitely pull that off with 9th gen tech. I hope it's not a lazy remaster.

The one on the right is clearly a troon, not so sure about the one on the left.
