In doing so, the government officials and lawyers of the Federal Ministry of the Interior made a small, but decisive mistake. Apparently, they typed down the URL of the YouTube channel of the Islamisches Zentrum Berlin by hand - and made a typo. They forgot an "N".

However, this has wide-reaching legal consequences. Because of this single typo, the link which is supposed to define the YouTube channel that is to be banned now no longer leads to the IZ Berlin - but to the channel of the famous fashion brand Chanel. The ban decree now officially concerns the French fashion company.

I'm reading what's basically a synopsis of the 87th Mountain Infantry Regiment's tour of duty in Italy in 1945 and it makes mention of the fact that plenty of German soldiers they captured were well aware that Germany was to be and I quote here "sterilized" after the war. Nobody in 1945 was in any doubt as to why, either, not even the Germans. They knew what their country's sins were. Turns out kickstarting two world wars on dubious grounds and losing both at the cost of millions of lives doesn't exactly endear people to you.

Oh my sweet summer child, if they were going to declare war on the Soviets, they would have when they annexed the Baltics. Or when they annexed Ukraine and committed mass murder there. Or when they invaded Finland. Or, you know, when they invaded fucking Poland. The point was never "muh territorial integrity" or whatever, it was France and Britian manufacturing an excuse to shank a rising continental power, just like they did with Russia in the Crimean War. Remember, siding with the Russians over the Germans in 1939 means siding with the regime that had publicly committed tens of millions of political murders over the the one that hadn't.

They did try to put troops together to help out the Finns but considering they were busy with the Phoney War that had started a few months before the Winter War did and had more immediate priorities they didn't manage to get the troops in order until it was over. Those got diverted to Norway, and it turned into a bit of a disaster. The USSR also didn't go after the Baltics until the Battle of France was all but over. You can claim it makes for convenient excuses, but at the end of the day there's no point outright declaring war on Russia when you're already at war with Germany (in the case of the Poles and Finns), and losing that war (in the case of the Baltics), especially since the two nations were on good terms with each other at the time thanks to the Molotov-Ribbentrop Agreement. The last thing you want to do is drive them into each other's arms by being at war with both of them at the same time.

Stalin had played his cards well, and Eastern Europe wound up paying the price.
