NotebookLM - generate a vapid NPR-style podcast about any topic - The sign is a subtle joke, but what does it REALLY mean?

I fired up my burner account, dumped all various documentation into it and asked it various questions and it's a pretty good RAG system, a lot more useful than googling something. I'm glad the websearch era is at an end.

I'm not a regular podcast-listener-to-er, but I found myself actually listening to one of those mainstream NBC Finance type podcasts earlier (it wasn't a print article, you had to listen to the dumb thing).

...I really didn't realize how accurate and true-to-life this service actually is. Holy shit, the exact way they talked to each other, never quite interrupting or talking over each other, chuckling slightly for no reason, using lots of words to say nothing and all the boring phrases like "let's break this down for our audience." Safe boring media really is cooked.

If this or something similar ever goes open source, I insist the farms pull together an archive of MATI lolcow segments to train an AI so we can have a MATI summary of every thread on the site.

They've added the ability to seed the podcast discussion using a prompt. I can't access the exact prompt I used, but I fed in Trump on JRE and told it to focus on his incoherence.

Pretty good, Focker. Pretty fucking good. Interestingly, it's able to make decent points despite this being a politically charged topic of sorts. I'd usually expect this kind of response to be tamped down in the name of being "neutral," so it's pleasantly surprising to get something of value here.

There's a lot of changes including an Interactive Mode which is in beta but basically makes you have a conversation with the hosts which is just a surveillance tool. Also we can generate study guides, briefing docs, FAQs and timelines.
