I'd bet Null would just shut them down whenever the topic springs up because it's such a inconsequential complaint.

You say that but i'm assuming you missed the absolute shitfest that occurred because a user made an offhand comment about stickers and notifications during the furry DM drama and null's recent explicit warning about never being bothered about anything like this again after the recent notification drama.

I wasn't there for the furry roleplay drama but I was during the sticker war 2. I do say that Null could tell the retards to stop being retarded because I don't see how someone could complain about a feature like this. The only difference is that different notifications are split up. For sticker notifications, there were some reasons (Not saying they weren't retarded, however) like seeing who reacted to your post without having to click your profile and going into the reactions received section. But I guess I underestimate the power whiny, autistic retards.

It's not about people complaining about the feature, it's about asking null to do extra work on xenforo's notification system for a feature he explicitly loathes and only added back because of the unending screeching of hundreds of autistic retards.

Oh, I think I see where you're coming from. I guess why Null hates anything with notifications is because it means more work for him when people can just not be lazy. But your original post said that it could open "an autistic can of worms" which made me go to the complaining part that people do since I don't think there could be a lot of people cadging for feature like this compared to sticker notifications.

Like when Null disabled the reactions received page because he got so MATI over someone making a userscript? If that's the case, then I got you.
 
I know it's not exactly what you're looking for, but it's already in a way filtered (highlighted differently).

If you go to alerts the mentions and the notifications have a different color on the side. On desktop at least, notifications will be transgender pink, and mentions will be transgender blue:

I'm aware, yes, but it's still cumbersome to scroll though a bunch of reaction notifications to get to the quotes. (And no, I don't want to disable reaction alerts)

I actually built this myself, along with simple user tagging and a custom thread search. It's just a Chrome extension with random features I like—probably a bit buggy. If anyone wants it, I can upload it.
