I was defending these guys because as a Christian I understand the desire to preach and to try to reform someone, and I was willing to give them benefit of the doubt, but the way they are going about this is so lazy and obnoxious I am beginning to be annoyed by it myself.

They claim that they want to be like a benevolent idea guy, but they completely lack all the patience and cunning that the Idea Guys had. IG laid low and kept his influence secret as long as possible, IG took the time to understand Chris and slowly build up trust to manipulate him. That is why IG had, and still has, such a massive hold on Chris' psyche. These guys didn't learn anything from that whole episode, just dropped a Koran in Chris' lap and said "read it" and when Chris said "actually you should convert to my religion and worship me" they just threw their hands up in the air and said "by Allah this infidel cannot be saved, I wash my hands of him. Put me in the wiki and the documentary please".

Yeah, should have at least had a couple back and fourth, start of with just trying to get Chris to regonize Allah as one of the deities then move into sharing some Qur'an verses. Get Chris Chan's True and Honest opinion on Islam as a whole soften him up with some money orders to barb. That way when he rejects all the charity it be more or less his doing compared to a single exchange.

You're vastly overestimating the gravity of Chris's crimes. He's in a plain old jail awaiting trial, and if convicted, the odds are that Chris wouldn't end up in a maximum or even high-security prison. Do you have any idea just how many mentally ill sexual deviants pollute the criminal justice system? Unless he's guilty of some serious sexual shit (i.e. child molestation, actually getting a proper rape conviction instead of incest, etc.), they're more than likely going to shove Chris into a low-to-medium security facility for the next X years.
