Odd Youtube Fads

  • 🔧 Actively working on site again.
The steamed hams scene has been a classic scene for some time and parodies/adaptations have been made long before it caught on super-big time.
Probably isn't a coincidence, but there's always a chance considering how that scene is a generally memorable one.

I had a friend years ago who watched Random DCE and other commentators. He would watch the videos when we would hang out. At first I didn't mind, but I quickly got sick of them because they were so spergy and boring. DCE and everyone else who makes commentaries all seem to give off :alog: vibes, especially when they could bitch about something so trivial such as minor changes in a video game sequel or a wrestling promo, then rant on a lolcow for doing pretty much the same things they do. Also found it weird how they ranted about each other a lot.
Funny that you mention Alog in comparison to RandomDCE. I don't think anyone in the farms know that Alog originally gained notoriety as a hardcore simp of DCE, long before he acquired his CWC-related infamy. It's especially funnier because DCE himself is CWC in pretty much ever way and then some, at least in my humble opinion.

Some serious necro-posting here

That sure is a wacky new odd YouTube fad.

I don't know if it counts as necro at this point, but a couple interesting YouTube fads that deserve attention:

A lot of them have a certain look. I think that there's some free tool that they use to make these and it's got an intuitive presentation that makes sense. A lot have the white bars of varying height on a black background with the static sound, some people do the same thing but with different aesthetics. I'll only post one here, but you can find hours of this pretty easily.

For some special snowflakes though, they just have to present these sorting algorithms in unique and visually striking ways that make the algorithms harder to understand. One channel in particular seems to specialize in this.

On the other end of the spectrum we have one channel that makes unique sorting algorithm videos that really do make it easy to understand (although the narrator and the animation style do make you feel like a child).

Some time ago someone made an animated video on how to (topologically) turn a sphere inside out.
For whatever reason this video got the attention of a bunch of non-math spergs and became a bit of a meme. You can only embed 10 YouTube videos in a post so I won't post them, but there's a few edits of it. And for whatever reason the video seems to have been uploaded in its entirety half a dozen times on YouTube.
At the same time, because it is a surprising but visually interesting process, there are a bunch of math spergs and 3d animation spergs who've made their own versions of spheres being turned inside out. Here's one that I like (keep in mind that topologically a bunny statue is equivalent to a sphere)

OK, I've seen at least three different channels where women talk about gruesome true crimes and murders while applying their makeup.

Where the hell did this come from? Seriously, what's the connection?

Women like makeup tutorials, women like true crime. It's strange, but it actually makes a lot of sense when you think about it.
