On another note, ya'll really ought to be wishing for maximum shit show. I haven't checked the numbers to see if it's still possible, but just imagine: A tie in the electoral college, leaving congress to decide the election. Followed by a house of representatives that elects Biden as president, and a senate that elects Pence as vice president.

I don't think you could get more entertaining than that.

Actually, what would be even funnier is this. Biden scrapes it 270-268. There's a combination of states which he can get to get this. Electoral college convenes... and one of the Dem electors is faithless and writes in Bernie Sanders.

Nobody got the 270 electoral college votes so it all goes to Congress. There, thanks to the 12th Amendment, the delegations to the House of Representatives all vote en bloc (i.e. each state has 1 vote regardless of the number of congressmen it has) and the decision of each state must be unanimous. This means that since there are more fully red states than fully blue states in Congress, Trump may well get it under this procedure.

Can you imagine the utterly glorious quantities of salt that would come about if that happened? That faithless Dem elector would be cancelled from his party, his job, and probably cancelled from life.

No the issue is that ballots are counted in most places by what is essentially a scantron, and sharpie bleeds through. A bled through ballot will be auto-cancelled because it cannot be read.
