Before GW left the white house he said the country would be divided if two parties existed. This was in response to (I think Federalists and the opposing party) gaining steam. He denounced partisanship.

And he is right, when you think of it, no matter if you are Democrat or Republican, putting yourself into one party is divisive. Because there are many on either side that dislike the President of the party they are in (shouldn't that mean people should just run as Independents and have their policies speak for them instead of D vs R?)
