Im going to respectfully disagree. Covid leaves behind long term respatory damage that we’re still only just beginning to understand.

The issue was never that the virus was deadly to the general public, it’s that the symptoms are incredibly strong and it’s extremely contagious. Even then, we should still show some empathy to people who are at risk of dying to the diesease.

It sounds ugly, but why should feeble people get to cripple society? Let them stay at home while everyone else keeps society functioning.

I'm not sure how it's dumb-- those people are dependent on society functioning even more than the rest of us. Not just that, but every place that "did things right" is in their second wave. Society has to keep functioning, even if some people die. Expecting the world to stop because you're either scared or virtue-signalling is incredibly selfish.
