What is the mentality behind "Questioning results, and asking for transparency or auditing is a threat to democracy"?

Sounds about right although even without an automatic recount statute you can go straight to court. I assume in the optional states there will be some strategic choice of forums. While the recount statutes usually require some threshold, filing suit in the absence of such a statute, or outside of the availability of a party requested recount, would probably require allegations of actual fraud or some evidence of it, something Trump's allegations of fraud have usually been entirely lacking in. If he loses it's fraud every time.

All of his voter fraud lawsuits are being thrown the fuck out already.

I just checked the recount laws, looks like he could actually get one in Michigan too if he alleges fraud (he will), but Arizona's off the table unless they land within 0.1% of each other, which doesn't seem likely.
