There are so many games that do not give you to the option to play as a female character even when there is a character creator in the game that lets you edit a male character. It's ridiculously stupid. I usually just avoid buying them as opposed to posting a negative review. I don't want to give them my money out of principle. It can't be that hard to add a female model when you already have a male one. The lack if inclusiveness really says something about the dev team, imo, even though all the men playing act like it's not a big deal. But I feel like if I call this out to any of the male gamers I know recommending these games, they act like I'm a retard for even noticing it.

It can't be that hard to add a female model when you already have a male one.

It basically doubles the development costs for everything that went into the male model. Adding a female model means you not only need another voice actor and pronoun adjustments in a lot of other dialogue, female models also need a separate set of animations to not look wonky, and rigging a skeleton is one of the more labour-intensive parts of making a game model. Adding a character editor for the male model is relatively cheap, you just set offsets for a number of parts of the face and have a handful of textures and hairstyles to choose from, that's nowhere near as much work.

It's still annoying when games only have a male option, but it really is a fair bit of work to add a female option. Bit weird men are so unsympathetic to this though, considering the endless whining when games like Tomb Raider or Horizon Zero Dawn have a female protagonist. You'd think that would make them consider what the other side experiences for every other game out there, but nope.

I don't completely agree, because some of these male character creators look like ass in the first place and are so generic that they don't have anything special that would make adding a female option that much harder. They could easily make a female mesh model, use the same generic animations they use for the male characters (the characters dont have voice lines anyways) and it would be fine. We aren't talking triple A games here, but the shitty small dev studio games under $30. The game I distinctly remember getting annoyed over was Valheim, back when it was newly released. The models legitimately look like blobs, but it looks like they have added in female characters since then so I can't stay mad about that one. I'm sure there have been others but I just haven't bothered to remember them. It's usually some dumb dwarf game where they don't feel like making female dwarves.
