Lol, I’m talking 30 years ago, not 100 nor in some backwater. I can attest I had no peers married before high school graduation (and I can only recall one marriage right afterward; they were together all through high school (and are still married). I did have a number of college mates who married their freshman year beaux/belles, whether having been together before then or just meeting at 18 - but they all married after college. And per my Facebook, they’re all still married. Couldn’t be me, but it worked for some.
Nah, my friends and I were pretty intimately connected and talked. And 30 years ago puberty wasn’t *that* much earlier (see my couple of quickly gathered cites above). I started having boobs at ~10, period at 11ish. That was considered a positive by other girls. But that was miles away from sexuality. Boys didn’t really consciously figure into it - we were innocent and had only the vaguest ideas of sex. We probably thought boobs were things boys would like…but we had no sense of why, or of sex, per se. Not sure how to convey the naïveté/innocence of it in a way you’ll understand. And grown people weren’t on the radar.
