I do too. I understand the "cats kill birds" thing is real, but people act like dogs aren't destructive as fuck too. Maybe I read it wrong, but it tends to come off a bit insincere a lot of the time. But yes, men, on average, hate cats more. Some love them though, and generally if a man likes cats, he will prefer them to dogs in my experience.

There was a (lol) tumblr story prompt several years ago that was imo actually very sweet/poignant called “The Cat and the Key”—I thought I remembered seeing a not-shit comic version of it but I’m not easily finding one now. The premise is that a woman promises her hand in marriage to whoever can bring her a key from around her pet cat’s neck. The local moids go into overdrive trying to capture the cat, setting traps for it, pretending to be friendly only to try to scruff it for the key, and so on. The version I remember ended up being lesbian (the moral works either way) with another woman genuinely befriending the cat over time, without trying to take the key by force—and it’s ultimately revealed that the first woman was a shapeshifter all along. She was waiting for the person who didn’t just try to stuff her in a box and steal the key. A lot of men would probably just shoot or poison the cat in a “real” version of the story, and be bewildered when the owner is furious with them.
This is absolutely pathetic on every male commentator’s part. If I saw a woman OR man (far less likely, but still) in that mother’s situation, I would offer a hand out of common decency. Do these fuckers not hold doors open for the elderly? If they saw eg someone of either sex drop a bunch of papers in public and desperately try to gather them, would they not help? Typical anti-social scrote behavior. I don’t mind when a male holds a door open for me or asks if I need help carrying something heavy/awkward unless they are creepy about it. I thank them (even if I say no to the help, in the latter case) and I do the same for others, regardless of their sex. It’s just part of living in a civil society, but that is obviously impossible for a disquieting number of males to consider. Their concern for others begins and ends in their pants.
I work around people a lot, many of them old, who tend to push and carry a lot of shit, and I do the same thing when I can. I suppose a possible argument could be made for regional or generational differences in the US (or elsewhere I suppose) in regards to door holding, but ultimately, the real factor is just being a decent human being. I actually got into a conversation with a co-worker about this the other night, and the useless moids we've encountered at work who will sit there and actually watch us pulling heavy shit in and out, and not think to even offer to help hold our non-automatic doors. So fuck it, we help each other. All this has done is make me want to help out women who need it more.
