Stuff like this is why body positivity even became a thing. I have my qualms with it (mostly because it often centers obesity more than body type differences or disabilities), but women getting told they’re fat over and over again just for being 10 pounds overweight is how you get women to develop a complex over it. The beauty standards of the early 2000s included women with these tiny waists and big boobs, and then the same women that would get boob jobs or get disordered eating habits to achieve those standards would get shamed for it too.Case in point, look at how porn addicted men completely ran down the idea of a "thicc" and "curvy" women. Their definition of those two things aren't women that are plump/bit meaty but still aesthetically pleasing to look and healthy anymore, it's a skinny woman with a tiny waist, big H cup tits and giant bubble butt. Sometimes when they're feeling graceful and generous enough they include her having little bit of a tummy and fat thighs while also by some miracle having an insane thigh gap. Meanwhile they call women that have actual curvy body types like in these pictures fat, ugly, slampigs, obese and really try say they're in deathfat levels.
Looks as a whole are given way more importance for women to have than men, so it’s why it’s mostly women that will be more insecure over said looks. Women have a lot more to lose by being perceived as ugly than men do, as even most jobs will encourage women to spend extra money on beauty treatments and makeup, and not even for jobs that are looks based. To make it even worse, sometimes you risk not getting a promotion because you aren’t seen as attractive. This isn’t to say that I want people to not put effort into looking presentable, but it’s sad that it’s at a point where going makeup free to certain jobs, especially ones not based on looks, is seen as “unprofessional.”
