Seems like in most media, male character designs are allowed to go all-out as both protagonists and supporting characters. They can look scarred, weird, ugly, old, lanky, fat, and nobody will bat an eye or accuse the artists of being woke. People usually won't pretend those designs are stunning and brave, but they also won't throw a big fucking hissy fit (Hades designs) or stir a major controversy out of nothingburger (Abby). I don't know how I'd describe it. Maybe it's because men are seen as the default and allowed to exist as normal people you see in a story, while female main characters who you'll be seeing a lot need a reason to be there, and a damn good reason at that. It's genuinely pretty funny to play through games like Planescape Torment where the main party is comprised of the weirdest fuckers you have ever seen and also two smokin hot demon babes i guess

The eyebrows were thinned. The planar dimension/ carved effect the high placement of the cheekbones added were eliminated, along with the depth of the forward-pointing nose and the small line down the eyebrow that dared to imply she had slightly deep set eyes and a browbone. Lipstick was added to make the mouth more pouty. The length of the mouth may have also been shortened.

In short, they made her look like any other pretty anime girl- flat face with no dimension, no implication of any sort of characteristic sharp/ mature features that also point to an older look the original Aphrodite had. I also should add that the waist, arms, hips and thighs were all thinned, however the breasts were left the same.

This is what these people's understanding of femininity is, an anime doll. The picture on the right looks "trans" to them- despite having a bigger butt and thighs. And then they wonder why people ask them if they've ever seen a woman before.
