But all that aside, a couple days ago discussion on this topic made the pick-me's upset, so it was shut down for 'infighting' and then you personally tried to usher the radfem posters into a containment thread, and yet the first thing I see when I come check back into the thread is you're still talking about it, now that the sisters aren't allowed to disagree with you or point out that you're part of the problem you're complaining about.

The containment threads are exactly that. Containment threads. I was interested in making that thread not because of being “radfem,” but because it is a social phenomenon where women will degrade each other for things like obtaining boyfriends and/or status. I didn’t even obtain my husband through being a “pick me.” We were friends for a long time, then started dating.

I think the topic of “pick me” is a lot more nuanced than most people on this site give it credit for, and most women were once “pick me” types at one point in life for one reason or another. Sometimes it’s from genuine trouble socializing, other times it’s from wanting to find a husband/boyfriend but not knowing the best way to go about it.

Personally, I’m rather tired of women feeling that need to degrade other women in order to be “acceptable” to others. If that’s what men actually encourage, but then say “women are too much drama and fight all the time,” they are actually just perpetuating the issue. Even so, when women do disagree or fight, it gets reduced to being a “cat fight,” and treated less seriously than men fighting other men.

Sometimes I think men don’t even attempt to understand female social dynamics and assume it’s all superficial. Being against the “pick me” type isn’t forcing conformity, it’s about women learning that you don’t have to talk so badly about your own sex in order to gain things in life. Men will already say horrible things about women without the aid of women debasing themselves. All it does is create a society more hostile to women in general as the “pick me” will try to affirm beliefs held by men about other women being terrible.

You may be a “woman respecter,” but you aren’t a “woman understander.”

I don't care if you're a make-up enjoying pick-me, I just think it's cringe that you helped actively shut down a discussion because you didn't like being disagreed with, and then brought it back up as soon as you thought it was safe to talk about it without being disagreed with.

You can say I don't understand female social dynamics, and that's absolutely true to an extent, but I still understand them well enough to know that you're fully aware you're wrong for that, and just didn't expect anyone would be impolite enough to challenge you on it.
