Most of us aren't terribly concerned with looking youthful for our age.
Lol, the number of men I’ve known who pivoted hard on that statement a few years later.
Sometimes I think men don’t even attempt to understand female social dynamics and assume it’s all superficial.
Sometimes I think people spend way too much time focused on pigeonholing “how women do” in general.
Being against the “pick me” type isn’t forcing conformity, it’s about women learning that you don’t have to talk so badly about your own sex in order to gain things in life.
Pickme originally meant supplicating behavior for purposes of snagging a man, including accepting bad and substandard behavior, propping up men to your own detriment, etc. It had to do with making a fool of yourself for a man/men’s attention. Somehow it’s evolved (as seen in that other thread) to “every woman who:
- doesn’t hate men, or
- aims to attract men, or
- is stuck in some “I am so special because I don’t dress or behave in [what I think are] standard girl/woman ways” self-view, or
- doesn’t march lockstep with whatever is the prevailing view in the micro-community of women in which the debate arises, or
- affects “cool girl”
is a pickme,” regardless of the orientation or basis for any of the above.
At some point, the subtype of “pickme” is going to swallow the type (women) if everything that women do gets thrown into that bucket other than actively hating (or claiming to hate) and/or avoiding men.
It's nuts how the man-hate thread has more replies than the woman-hate thread.
Unbridled man-
hate critical commentary is contained into a single thread and therefore concentrated, unlike the unbridled woman-hate.
Seems to be harder for women to keep excess weight off once they pass 30. But it's hardly "hitting a wall."
Its really not, though of course there are multiple factors at play. And of course, harder =/= impossible.
This whole “30” wall is beyond retarded (and yes I made a wry joke yesterday about men hitting one at 34 based on sperm quality research, which - as a joke - is unlike the vicious seriousness that dummies “cite” the women/30 wall).
Feminists fucked themselves when they began sanitizing feminism, like dropping Womens Liberation as a title. No wonder lolbert sex posi third wave feminism took off. No, I do not want equality. I do not want the moid jew ratrace. I want Womens Liberation.
“Women’s Lib” was not about - other than for some tiny percentage of those who elected it, existing without contact at all with men. “Women’s lib” as a broad concept in the US was about political rights and freedom from the negatives of a male-dominated society, so that women were no longer treated as second-class citizens (discrimination in jobs, financial matters, institutional societal double-standards, etc.).
There has never been one single, monolithic feminism. It’s a shame that today feminism is often characterized or perceived (by women, I mean; men have always been defensive and goofy about the term) in ways more archaic, threatening, and polarized than ever.
Feminism is about being freed from artificial, historically male-driven (to men’s benefit), institutional and societal guardrails around what it means to be a woman, how women are supposed to exist and what women can do. It’s about not being defined subject to or in relation to or around men, but instead being whole, sentient entities as complete people in and of ourselves, able to choose our own roles and paths rather than having them defined for us.
