It bothers me that girls are trained at such an early age to focus on their weight and dieting, so just in case you weren't already self-conscious about one's pubertal body, now your parents and teachers are making comments about how tubby you're becoming. Nvm one's own classmates' mockery, but grown adults train little girls to see their bodies as an object meant to please other people with its beauty, like a fancy vase instead of the flesh house your spirit lives in. That is bad enough on its own, but what I can't forgive is when men lean on this insecurity when they're trying to insult women. It's as if society made sure all women, no matter their weight, have this giant open wound in our psyche so that men can stick their salty fingers in and twist it when they think they are losing control.
Maybe if you're some kind of celebrity or child star, like Shirley Temple, and I could understand the emphasis on maintaining one's figure. Treating an actress like this is reasonable, because her job is her appearance and her performance. But for ordinary girls, it's excessive, sexist, and largely promulgated by their own mothers, trying to prepare their girls for a sexist and fat-phobic world. And the mothers are even in a bind; they have also been taught that how they look is more important than what they do, and they pass that on to their daughters in a bid to prepare them for living on their own. This is why girls get eating disorders at 10x the frequency of men. We are trained to believe that we need to be skeletal and weak to be ideal women.
So when I get insulted with regards to me weight, it gets to me, because I was intentionally trained to let it get to me. And I can't stand the entitlement of certain lousy, miserable faggots who exploit this and insult my appearance to dress me down.
