I think that I don’t think like that but I don’t think that I am allowed to say that definitely. Because just because I don’t think about myself like that doesn’t mean I am not like that. It’s scary to me that I might be a monster and not even realize it despite trying my hardest to not be one.

Men hate when you bring up sexual assault in general as a topic. The reason is threefold: it's something almost exclusively committed by men, it's almost exclusively perpetuated against women, and it happens a lot. This means that almost anyone knows someone who was either assaulted or the assaulter. Even men who will admit that SA is a very real threat for women will shift uncomfortably when you point out they probably know a guy who's at least a sex pest if not a full blown predator.

Are there men who are sexually assaulted? Yes of course. Are they less likely to report? Yes it seems so. Why? Because of a stigma against men who report sexual assault, which comes from other men.

Women are almost always the victims of SA, and men are almost always the perpetuators of SA, and a lot of men are assaulting women. These facts make any man uncomfortable.

And a fourth point: women typically know their rapists. I think this makes people the most uncomfortable. They like to imagine a rapist as being some masked assailant in an alley holding a woman at knife point and although that does happen, usually it's someone that you know and trust, like a teacher, a doctor, or a lot of the time, a member of the family.
