Why does scouting need to be segregated by genitals in the first place?

I wanted to be in boy scouts as a kid because girl scouts was lame and never did actual scouting shit. Plus most of my friends were boys as a kid while most girls thought I was weird and wanted nothing to do with me (the iconic autistic tomboy experience).

You don't use your genitals for scouting, it makes zero sense to segregate scouting by what genitals you were born with.

It’s important for young teen girls to be able to be with other girls - imagine a camp when you’re at the age you’re starting your periods and you have to bunk with boys - that’s just wrong. Sometimes girls want to be with girls. As they hit puberty it’s safer for them to have things like overnight camps be single sex too. Girls deserve that space. So do boys.
Edited to add - I hated the girl guides because it was boring so I quit. The boys went camping and made fires and we did lame stuff. The solution to that isn’t to crash the boys fun it’s to make the girls have fun too. Why should the girls be indoors while the boys are out in the woods? That’s not fair.

Mixed sex camps generally still have girls and boys sleeping in different areas. Speaking of camping, I was in girl scouts from grades 1-5 and we only went camping twice, and it wasn't even actual camping since we stayed in lodges. The second time they made us turn back from a hike because "too many fallen trees" (I guess the leaders thought our delicate girl legs were too fragile to just climb over them).

Even as a kid I thought random sex segregation of shit was dumb as hell. I made more friends within months in my 4th grade class despite being the only girl than I did in years of girl scouts (never even made an acquaintance there).

Personally I think it's pretty childish to think scouting of all things needs to be sex segregated, and as an adult I've realized just how pants-shittingly retarded it is.

I've heard outside the US and UK, the only other places that sex segregate scouting are Muslim theocracies like Saudi Arabia.

Being only with my own sex as a kid just resulting in me being miserable and alienated (and often picked on). I'm far from the only girl (especially masculine autistic girl) with that experience. Having the same genitals as someone doesn't automatically make you able to relate to or get along with them. I had no need for random shit to be sex segregated, if anything I needed the opposite.
