One of my favorite guilty pleasure shows to watch. Thankfully most of the women just scam the absolute fuck out of the guys and then dump them when they get their Greencard. Watching season 2 of before the 90 days and Tarik is a good example of this. Another thing that I'm concerned about is the laws allowing women to have bank accounts and property in our own names. Will they begin freezing our assets? Will we be unable to access them if there is no moid on the paperwork, too?

That's what I'm *really* worried about.

It was never actually a thing that a woman couldn't have her own account or property, there was just a lot of discrimination about it and married women especially often found it impossible to get credit etc in their own name rather than through their husbands. The legislation about it didn't legalize what was formerly illegal, it just banned banks from discriminating against women

I think that decision was made from short sighted "I gotta remove the DEI" vs malice. I am displeased regardless, but I will wait to see how it all plays out. Trump has a flashy, massive ego that he previously sated with gold plated towers but now he has America's legacy. In regards of USA discourse this is my opinion, you can say I am being but I think it's better to be that than a doomer .

Even in the worst circumstances where there is a scenario where the US government becomes extremely hostile towards women in order to elevate and uplift (fail)men, the reality is men will always find a way to royally fumble and shit the bed even when things are fully in their favor and the system absolutely makes absolutely safe proof that they are unable to fail no matter how much they try, whether it's through infighting with one another or just pure incompetence.

Women did not have the Federal right to their own credit accounts until the ECOA. Yes, that's sort of what you said, but downplaying the impact of the ECOA ignores the reality of how things actually play out. If you don't have a right, then you are at the whim of whoever is in the place to decide. Rights matter.

But your first comment is incorrect. Women could not own property or have accounts in their own, sole names in the US until the mid-19th century - and it was state-specific. Mississippi led the charge, bc slave ownership/ sale was important.

Elsewhere, to pick a couple examples, France allowed women to have their own bank accounts in the late 19th century (first, single women; 5 years later, married women got yo be people, too); in Ireland, women could not own a home in their own sole name until 1976.

I ended up voting for Trump from a usually center left / independent position so I'll try to ~briefly~ explain why.

It really boiled down to the economy. Biden's loose hand allowed wars to start, which fucked up the economy. I was burning the savings I had from the previous Trump administration to get through Biden and anything was going to be better than 4 more years of whatever the fuck Harris's platform was.

I originally wasn't going to vote for president (I didn't vote for either Biden or Trump previously because I thought they were both MEH, but I was wrong. Biden was MUCH WORSE) What made me change my mind was Harris not commenting on CA Prop 36 (tougher laws for theft and drug crimes) which was insanely popular in my poor crime ridden state. I realized that she was either waiting for an opinion from higher up D's and had no platform of her own. She was a mouthpiece that couldn't talk about her opinions for 10 minutes, while Trump had the courage to just bluster through 3 hours (I agree with trump, lets save the whales! lol!)

Right now I don't see the left or right having the moral high ground on women's rights. Losing abortion on a democrat's watch made me realize that even thought they had many presidents with 8 years, none of them chose to codify roe into law. So why would I give them that stick to beat me with, and besides the economy, wars, and inflation were more important.

Also, while I don't like 'the bedfellows' that voting right brought me into contact with, I have a feeling they have bigger fish to fry and actually going about ~removing~ non DEI women's rights would be a tough sell while they wrangle with Biden's mess. I don't like Vance, or his vaseline smiling race mixing pajeet 'trad waifu' but MEH. Kamala didn't do much and I hope he's sidelined by Trump's ego.

Biden gave us a preview of what a multi-polar world would be like, with Iran, China, and Russia running amuck.... and I don't think it was very nice. It was time for dad to get home and start smackin fannies.
