To be honest, I kiiiiiind of put some of the blame on women who continue to attempt sincere friendships with males past the age of 10. (Don't we know better by now?) But, nonetheless, this "both genders" thing is beyond retarded. How is you ruining what the woman thought was a friendship in any way equal to the woman reacting to that in a way you didn't like? If the friendship is over anyway because your feelings were one-sided, then does it even matter what she thought of you afterward?
Of course, this is nothing new. Women are expected to deal with/react to every problem in their lives "with more grace", including but not limited to: finding his porn stash, learning that he cheated, having to do all of the housework and/or childcare alone (potentially while also working), having in-laws who are constantly at her throat while her husband does nothing to defend her ...
