Men that love giving themselves the title of a protector are more likely to protect murderers and rapists just because they happen to be male while taking credit from men that actually stepped up and protected women and children from harm. Reminds me of Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita. In the book things don't go according to plan with the pedophile's sick fantasy. His type are girls aged 9-14. He seeks a replacement for a girl he loved in his childhood. He settles for a marriage with a woman who has a daughter he's into.

The wife discovers Humbert (the pedophile's) journal that's all about her daughter, storms out of the house and gets hit by a car. Dies. This allows Humbert to take her daughter across the country to motels, while being paranoid of someone watching them. He settles at a place and sends lolita to school, but when she starts talking to other boys, Humbert lashes out at her and gets jealous. Eventually they hit the road again and she gets sick. Humbert drops her off at a hospital, comes back and she's gone. A nurse says her uncle took her. Humbert spends years looking for lolita, one day he gets a letter from her, stating she was married, pregnant and needs money. Humbert rushes over there, and she was taken by a man named Clare Quilty who happened to actually be stalking them on the road. Quilty and Humbert are very alike, despite Humbert's portrayal of his relationship with the girl as romantic he also kidnapped her just like Quilty. Humbert begs her to leave her husband, and she refuses. He desperately gives her money, kills her husband, gets thrown in the psych ward and prison, and writes the memoir.

Crazy shit happens in the book and its worth a read if you can stomach disturbing tales, I don't want to spoil it too much. If you see any moid call Lolita a love story, run for the hills.

Really hurts because Adrian Lyne directed Jacob's Ladder (his only great film lmao), and Kubrick made some of the best films. Humbert is a fucking monster not far off from someone like Epstein and his cohorts. In fact I suspect most men who did failed adaptations SAW THEMSELVES as Humbert, related to him, especially that awful lost play.
